The translation is very good and will be the usual 2 chapters/day if the novel gets voted through most likely. The story is a little slow-paced which some people may not like but he gets strong-ish fairly fast and has a very good cheat in my opinion. The MC is a standard modern day Chinese protagonist, not much personality but sometimes that's better than having too strong a personality and it's set in modern day China.

This book is very good. It is mislabeled as Eastern Fantasy, when it is infact Magical Realism and Horror. A very interesting read so far. As of chapter 40, this novel can be summed up in one word 'confusing'. It's as if the author decides to write ten horror stories that's happening at the same time. Of course, it'll be confusing. But it might not be as bad if there're better introduction and descriptions of each of the horror stories. Instead, all of them just got randomly thrown out. I get it. It's supposed to be a confusing time in their world, but the readers shouldn't be as confused. Most often than not, readers get thrown into a different scenario shortly after starting the first one, with no transition. I was like 'what? what just happen?' all the time. The MC is also not the brightest cookie and a bit contradictory. He's trying to stay under the radar of the government since he got this human-skin book/scroll that can ****, but he goes to a buffet to eat for >5 hours straight each day without ever leaving to use the restroom while his stomach is still flat. How is that flying under the radar? Right now, there's no plot and no direction. I wouldn't mind the lack of them if the horror stories are more organized. I would have stayed just for those horror stories. Unfortunately, the way they're being written isn't enough to keep me here. Sad :(

A confusing as hell world that gradually unveils itself. I don’t want to post spoilers in this review but that would be very difficult for a novel like this. I’ll try not to though. First off, reading the first few chapters would make anyone confused. You’ll only start to get a basic understanding after chapter 9. In this supernatural world, dangerous and mysterious happenings occur around the city and our MC is learning and trying to get stronger during these times. He kinda reminds me of Chen Ge if you know who he is (My House of Horrors). There is tons of Chinese folklore and Xianxia elements that populate the story. And as for the yaoi another review talked about. I’m not seeing any so far... I really hope there isn’t any. So, I quite enjoyed the novel if I ignored my confusion I had the entire time reading it. Despite my confusion, I would probably keep reading it. On chapter 39, it reveals some more world background and developments that got me more interested but I’m poor! Poor! Poor! Important things must be repeated three times. 😏

Was introduced to the mandarin version by a friend. I was pleasantly surprised to find it had been translated. I must say the translation is top notch. It's a very well written mystery/horror novel.

Interesting premise, what if the supernatural was or became real? Well that is exactly what our MC goes through. The pacing is quick but a little strange in the first chapters. A good horror story novel reminciestt of My House of Horror, and lacks a system, but certainly with its own cheat. I suggest reading up to chapter 10.
