Chapter 296: Fated

The shrill sound of his ringing phone was once again heard. Mark closed his eyes ignoring it. He wished he had turned it off.

Sarah had calmed down in his embrace but she had yet to speak. He was terrified of what she would say to him. Maybe he should have kept silent about things.

Perhaps he could act oblivious to her state and pretend as though he didn't know. That way, he wouldn't be feeling the way he felt now. It's quite awful.

Dealing with his mother was the last thing he wished to do at the moment. he sighed heavily forgetting the woman in his embrace momentarily.

Fortunately, it was his sigh that prompted her to look at him. Sarah couldn't for the life of her recall the last time she felt this weak.

Weakness was a trait she had worked hard to eradicate in herself. Yet, it was only temporary going by her current state.
