Chapter 8: Slave Market
"What's happening? What are you doing?" Chao Xing started to yell as the bag got snatched from her hand and soon her cape was also ripped.
"Don't worry girl. I will take good care of you." An old man came near her as her both arms were held by two men.
She was trying her best to get out of the hold of those two men but all of her efforts were in vain.
"Why are you doing this? Where is my father?"
"Looks like you still don't know what's going on. Then let me enlighten you."
He paused for a second as he came near Chao Xing a little.
"I gave a good amount of money to your father. Your father sold you to us."
Chao Xing's eyes went wide. She couldn't believe her ears.
[ Is this true? ]
[ Did this girl's father really sell me off? ]
She wasn't even struggling anymore and just went still. The two men dragged her inside the shop and tore off her cape.
Tears started welling up in her eyes but she was just too shocked to react.
"Let her stand with the other girls."
The girl was being dragged but when she heard those words she immediately started fighting again.
"Leave me."
"I won't go."
"I said leave me."
The old man got furious seeing her reacting like that.
"This girl needs to learn some manners. Tie her to that pole so she could understand where she is now."
The two men dragged Chao Xing towards a pole and tied her there. She continued yelling and resisting for a long time.
She was tied there for a whole day, it was night time and she was still tied to that pole. Her throat got dry because of all the yelling. Her head was also hurting badly.
"Water….." Her voice was barely coming out of her mouth, "Someone…. give me water."
A blonde girl probably her age came near her with a bowl filled with water in her hand. She put the bowl near Nadia's mouth and after she drank water from it she felt like she could speak again.
"Thank you so much." Chao Xing again put her head down after saying this.
"Hello. My name is Lin Qin. Nice to meet you." The girl said to Chao Xing with a big smile on her face.
She felt like that girl's face just shone as she smiled and eventually a smile came on her face too.
"I am Chao Xing."
"Such a pretty name you have."
"You too."
"So…." Lin Qin dragged her word as she looked curiously at Chao Xing, "What did you do? Why did they tie you here?"
Chao Xing's smile just lost again after hearing this and looked down.
"Let me tell you one thing sis. Don't fight these people otherwise you will suffer more. Just let things be however they are and find your happiness in all this."
"How?" Some tears fell out of her eyes as she heard that.
"Be patient. Face the situation and happiness will find you."
A smile crept upon Chao Xing's lips, "Okay. I will."
She too smiled seeing her, "You want to be friends with me?"
"I would love that." She wasn't crying anymore, instead she was smiling at the beautiful and kind girl standing in front of her.
"Great."
Lin Qin looked here and there and in the distance she saw some man standing, "Okay so do one thing start crying loudly until these men hear you. Once they come to you, tell them you are sorry and you will be obedient from now on."
"What? I am not going to do this. What if they ask me to do something bad?"
"Don't worry. They won't just do as I say."
Lin Qin went away from there before giving her a reassuring smile.
As soon as she went away Chao Xing started crying loudly. She cried like a baby as loud as she could for some time when finally two men came near her with an annoying look on their faces.
"What's the matter with you? Can't you keep quiet?"
"Can you please open me? I will be obedient now and listen to you."
One of the men raised his eyebrows, "And? Why should we believe you?"
Chao Xing made the most pitiful face as she could and looked at them, "Please I need to pee."
She bent down her head in embarrassment and couldn't even believe her own sentence.
"Fine…." One of the men said as she dragged his words, "But you have to behave this time."
"I will." Chao Xing nodded her head vigorously.
One of the men came near her and opened her arms, "You can go in that room."
He pointed towards a room where she saw Lin Qin going earlier. She nodded her head and ran inside the room.
"Lin Qin?" She called as soon as she got inside the room.
"You came. That's great." Lin Qin held both her hands with a great smile.
"Thank you."
"No problem girl. Let's go get you something to eat."
She took Chao Xing towards her sheet and below her pillow, she pulled out a piece of bread, "They gave food earlier so I saved one for you. We can't get anymore after that."
"Thank you so much. You are so kind." With that Chao Xing took that bread from her hand.
Not being able to eat anything the whole day. She felt blessed having that and ate that bread.
After she was done eating, she again thanked Lin Qin.
"Don't worry about it. Let's just sleep before they come and see us. We will get punished if anyone sees us awake at this moment."
"Okay."
Chao Xing laid down on the sheet which was spread on the floor right beside Lin Qin, there was no other pillow so she just laid down without a pillow. Lin Qin too laid down on that sheet.
"Good night." Chao Xing said to Lin Qin, she replied back with a good night.
Both turned towards other sides, Chao Xing closed her eyes and finally slept with the hope of finding happiness in her new life…..
