"I see... I didn't realize it was like that," Damien muttered. Being a noble sounded more complicated than he had imagined.
"But still... isn't five attendants too many? I get that one person like Sebas might be too much, but maybe two would be enough?" Damien suggested, hoping to at least reduce the number.
"Hmm… well," Theo hesitated, looking thoughtful.
"The truth is, the four boys—excluding Lupusregina—are probably being groomed to become your future retainers. They're a bit young to just be attendants, so I think Sebas has bigger plans for them," Theo explained.
"My retainers? You mean like personal servants?"
"Not exactly. They would be more like your direct subordinates, similar to how Sebas is to me," Theo clarified.
"Oh... wait, that's even worse! I don't need retainers!" Damien exclaimed, panicking at the thought of having such a responsibility.
Theo couldn't help but chuckle at Damien's reaction.
