Chapter 64: Lessons from the past

Christina woke up with gasp, her entire body slick with sweat. Her hands gradually loosened their grip on the sheets, her pale knuckles slowly regaining their natural color. Her mind began to recall the last thing she had done, and the image of her mother filled her thoughts.

'Was she missing her too much? Or was it the worry that was slowly starting to fill her with nightmares?' She wondered, the dreadful image of Lillian's sickly body causing her heart to ache. It truly felt like she had been plunged into some kind of mystical dark world for a moment.

"Are you okay?" An anxious voice didn't let her think, and as Christina turned to the side, she saw Reylan looking at her with concern etched all over his face.

Christina nodded and slowly sat up. Reylan assisted her and poured her a glass of water, which she accepted with a small nod.
