Chapter 34: Falling into his trap

[Next Morning]

Christina, all dressed up for work, descended the stairs. Her eyes narrowed at the sight of Blaze, sitting alone on the couch. Seeing him alone now, without the lovebirds, filled her heart with unease.

"Blaze, why are you still here?" she asked, her voice echoing in the silent hall. Normally, Reylan and Blaze would have left for work before she even woke up. 

"Your husband is still asleep," Blaze replied, his expression grumpy. "I've tried knocking and calling, but he won't come out."

"Why?" Christina frowned, pondering about his strange behavior. Her heart pounded in a wild gasp and she murmured, "Wait, is he sick again?" 

Before Blaze could reassure her, he saw Christina rushing upstairs. With a sigh, he followed her. Reaching the room, Christina knocked on the door a few times before it clicked open.
