Chapter 44: Psychopath

Fear and urgency spurred Azrael into action. Without a moment's hesitation, he clasped Anna's hand tightly and pulled her up from her seat. "We need to leave, now!" he exclaimed, his voice urgent.

Anna, startled by Azrael's sudden intensity, followed his lead as they hurriedly dashed out of the coffee shop. Azrael's heart pounded in his chest, his eyes darting back to where the portal had been. To his relief, the Grim Reaper was nowhere in sight. The bustling cityscape stretched out before them, oblivious to the supernatural encounter that had just occurred.

Breathing heavily, Azrael slowed down to catch his breath, still clutching Anna's hand. "I'm sorry for pulling you away like that," he said, his tone apologetic. "But something... something unnatural was happening back there. I couldn't risk your safety."
