Hazel had known the adults in the hospital branded him as dangerous but it was clear she took that with a grain of salt. Those doctors' and nurses' opinions weren't ones to be trusted.

She had thought her friend Billy was a nice person without realizing that every scrap of kindness he could muster was reserved for her alone. He was probably worse than the doctors could have even imagined.

Will could endure anything in this world but her leaving him. He had already endured so much to get here. Nobody ever expected him to amount to anything from the very beginning. It was as if he was born to fail.
