Chapter 70: Chapter 70 - A magical girl?

After another two days of being unconscious, Thomas slowly began to stir. His eyelids felt heavy as he struggled to open his eyes, and when he did, everything in the room around him seems blurred and unfocused. He felt exhausted, making even the slightest movement a challenge that he'd rather not take. Each breath felt labored as if he had just run a marathon.

Gradually, as his senses started to return, Thomas realized that he was lying in a comfortable bed in an unfamiliar room. The room looked nothing like the hospital wing of Hogwarts, instead, it look like he was in some noble house or something similar to that grandeur. It took all of his strength to lift his arm and wipe the sweat off his forehead.

As he regained his bearings, Thomas's thoughts immediately turned to Bahamut. Thankfully, he didn't have to struggle to speak with him, otherwise, he might have not tried to contact his mentor so soon after waking up.

"Bahamut, what the hell happened to me?"

[Took you long enough to wake up from that slumber of yours.]

Thomas took a moment to collect his thoughts before responding. [Bahamut, I feel like I've been through hell. Can you tell me what happened? I remember fighting Quirrell, but everything after that is a blur.]

[You have indeed fought that wizard, Quirrell, and the battle with him, especially the Killing Curses he used on you, left you severely injured. Thankfully Rerek's ritual and my power kept you alive long enough for your headmaster to contact some devils to take care of you.]

Thomas struggled to process what his mentor just told him. "So, I'm alive because of you and Mars ?" he whispered to himself.

[Indeed, while the Balance Breaker state makes your defense almost impenetrable, at your current strength it wouldn't have safe you from the Killing Curse, yet here we are, with you being the first wizard to survive the Killing Curse, a feat unheard of in the wizarding world from the way your headmaster and those devils reacted when they heard about it. Your body was damaged beyond any chance of recovering, but I had to interfere and had the philosopher stone consumed into your body so that you could keep on fighting to stay alive and recover.]

Thomas let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. "Thank you, Bahamut," he replied sincerely, "I owe you my life."

[You don't owe me anything. As both your mentor as well as your partner, it would have been a pity to lose such an interesting human to some dark magic]

As Thomas struggled to find the right words to respond to Bahamut's remark, he found himself at a loss. Gratitude overwhelmed him, but he couldn't quite speak out his emotions. Just as he was about to utter another thank you, the door to his room creaked open, catching his attention.

Turning his gaze toward the entrance, Thomas saw a woman stepping into the room. Her long, silver hair cascaded down her back, shimmering like moonlight, and her emerald green eyes look beautiful. She was dressed in one of the most obscene-looking dresses Thomas had ever seen in his life.

When she saw Thomas awake, she paused in her tracks, as her eyes fall onto Thomas as he sat with his back against the bed frame, lost in his own thoughts. There was some concern and curiosity in her eyes as looked at the young boy.

As Thomas continued to sit lost in his thoughts, he watched in surprise as the woman excitedly rushed towards him. She swiftly made her way to his bedside and looked at him with her eyes sparkling with excitement.

With an almost childlike enthusiasm, she took a seat on his bed, leaning in closer to Thomas.

"How did you withstand the Killing Curse? You must be incredibly strong for someone of your age right? Did your Sacred Gear save you? Who have you met Latia Astaroth?" she asked eagerly, throwing her words like a machine gun.

Thomas was taken aback by the barrage of questions, unsure of how to respond. He studied the woman's expression, searching for clues about her intentions. The genuine interest and concern in her eyes made him hesitate. Perhaps she was genuinely interested and worried for his well-being, but he couldn't let his guard down completely, not when he knew that the main Astaroth family want him dead or captured.

Trying to calm himself down from the sudden rush of excitement that he somehow got from this woman, and after taking a deep and somehow painful breath to steady himself, Thomas mustered his limited strength to respond. His throat felt dry, making his voice come out as a hoarse whisper. "I'm sorry, but who are you, and where am I?"

Serafall's excitement dimmed momentarily as she realized Thomas's confusion. "I apologize for overwhelming you. My name is Serafall Leviathan, and you are currently in my home. We were supposed to meet five days ago at Hogwarts, but circumstances have led us here."

Struggling to moisten his dry throat after Serafall gave him a cup of water, Thomas managed to speak once more. "I see... I apologize for not being able to make it in time for our meeting. Can you please explain why I'm here and how you are connected to all this?"

Serafall nodded understandingly, realizing that Thomas didn't know anything about what happened afterward. "Of course, Thomas, and I understand that what happened at Hogwarts left you disoriented. Your headmaster, Albus Dumbledore contacted us and after talking with him, we brought you here for your safety and to aid in your recovery. As for how I came into the equation, well last time you got into trouble with that Youkai assassin, the Ministry of Magic contacted us and by that I mean they contacted me since I'm the one in charge of foreign affairs. I was supposed to meet you and talk with you, mostly about your relationship with Latia Astaroth and why she gave you an enchanted weapon, though that's no longer important."

"Thank you for clarifying, Serafall," Thomas spoke, his voice still hoarse but it was many times better than before. "Now that I understand the situation, what is going to happen to me? Will I be staying here for a while, or will I return to Hogwarts?"

Serafall leaned back slightly, considering his question. "Given the severity of your injuries and the delicate nature of your recovery, it would be best for you to remain here until you have fully regained your strength," she explained in a gentle tone. "While that old man told us to inform him of any new development about you, I think you deserve some rest after having to face whatever attacked you."

"Understood," he replied with a faint hint of gratitude in his voice. "Though if it isn't that much to ask for, would it be alright for me to get something to eat?"

Serafall let out a small giggle at Thomas's request, finding his immediate response quite funny. She playfully knocked her head cutely with her hand and stuck her tongue out at him in a playful manner.

"Oops! I completely forgot about your appetite."

She stood up from the bed, and quickly went to the door and called a nearby maid before telling her to bring a bowl of soup for Thomas. After that, she walks back to the bed. "Don't worry, Tommy, can I call you Tommy? A maid will be here shortly with a warm bowl of soup," Serafall reassured him with a warm smile.

Not minding her calling him like that, Thomas nodded his head before making himself comfortable in the bed wondering how are his friends right now?

Serafall noticed that Thomas seemed lost in his thoughts, and his gaze seem to be drifting off into the distance. She knew that he had a lot on his mind and needed some time alone to process everything that had happened. With a gentle smile, she realized it was best to give him some space.

Quietly, she got up from the bed, careful not to disturb him. Serafall took a few steps towards the door and as she reached the doorway, she turned back to steal one last glance at Thomas.

"Take your time, Tommy," she whispered softly, her voice barely audible. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. Rest well and regain your strength."

With that, Serafall left the room, closing the door behind her with a gentle click. After leaving Thomas to rest, Serafall made her way to the living room on the bottom floor of her home. When she entered the room, her parents, Lucius, and Selene Sitri, turned their attention toward her.

Both Lucius and Selene had been waiting anxiously for Serafall to return from the room, concerned about the well-being of the boy she had brought to their home.

As Serafall approached them, Lucius spoke up first. "Serafall, is the boy alright? What is his condition?"

"Did he regain consciousness? Is he recovering well?"

Serafall smiled reassuringly at her parents. "Don't worry, Father, Mother. The boy, Tommy, has awakened. He's still weak and needs time to recover, but he's in good hands now."

Lucius's stern expression softened. "That's a relief to hear, after all, I would have hated to have the wizards shame our name just because we couldn't help healing the boy."

Selene listened intently to Serafall's words, and while the boy didn't have any kind of connection to her family, she was still worried for him, as she thought how would have she reacted if her Sona would have been in his place. When Lucius mentioned the potential shame their family could face, Selene grabbed his hand before turning her attention back to their daughter.

"Serafall, dear, did the boy mention anything about his memories of the fight?" Selene asked, her voice filled with concern. "If he doesn't remember, it could indicate that he suffered some trauma, and his mind might be protecting him by blocking those memories."

Serafall nodded, understanding her mother's point. "You're right, Mother. Thomas seems to have some gaps in his memory. He remembers fighting, but everything after that is a blur. His mind may be shielding him from the full extent of what he went through."

"That's understandable dear. Traumatic experiences can take a toll on one's psyche."

"Don't worry, Mom. I will be there for him every step of the way, besides I kind of took a liking to him. And who knows, maybe he will join So-tan's peerage."

Selene's expression turned stern as she scolded her daughter, "Serafall, dear, you mustn't pressure the boy into joining Sona's peerage. He's been through a lot, and it's important to give him time to recover and make his own decisions. Pushing him into something he may not want could cause more harm than good."

Serafall pouted in response, but couldn't help but giggle at her mother's scolding. She playfully stuck her tongue out, before complaining. "Aw, Mom, you're no fun! But don't worry, I won't force him into anything. I just think he's interesting and could be a good addition to our family. Plus, I'm sure So-tan would love to have him as her friend ."

Selene sighed, knowing her daughter's playful nature all too well. "Just remember to give him space and time to heal, Serafall. Building trust takes time, and rushing things could jeopardize any chance of a genuine connection."

Serafall's playful expression softened as she nodded. "I understand, Mom. I'll be patient and let things develop naturally. But first, I need to find my adorable little sister and shower her with all the love I can muster! I've been way too busy with my duties, and I miss her so much!"

With that, Serafall turned on her heels and skipped away. She couldn't contain her excitement when she thought about hugging her little sister.

Meanwhile, Selene and Lucius watched their older daughter leave the room. Both of them knew that Serafall's heart was in the right place, but sometimes her enthusiasm could be overwhelming. She hoped that the boy would be able to get used to her overfly-friendly and childlike personality.
