A large Rolls Royce rolled in from the main entrance of the estate. Her security stayed outside the gates, except for a selected few, nobody was allowed to enter. But, whoever entered, was under strict surveillance by Abe and George.
Magnus came out running to the entrance, although he did not need to greet her like this, he still needed to act as a simple boy for now.
Soon, the queen got out of her car, whose door was opened by her guard. Magnus, while looking at her, felt only one thing. WEAK.
Yes, she was rich and the monarch, but personally she was so weak. He wondered if she could even lift an assault rifle and fire continuously a full round. Let alone lifting his twin swords Hope and Despair. Anybody could bring this monarch down if one wanted to. Without her guards, she would be nothing.
Truly, the monarchy had degraded from old times. Back in Arthur's time, kings were supposed to be warriors, and if you were not, then you were either killed in combat or poisoned, if none of these, they'd die of some disease due to their frail pampered bodies.
But again, he understood why she was like this. Muggle world for the most part was peaceful and the rich didn't need to fight in the wars they funded. While in the Wizarding World, it didn't matter how rich you were, you may have to fight for survival.
She got out of the car and walked up to Grace. The casual greeting came. There were no cameras so there was no need to be too formal.
"Welcome, please come in." Grace led her inside.
But, when some guards also decided to enter, Magnus stopped them, "Not you. You stay at the door."
"We must follow her Majesty wherever she goes." They told him.
Magnus didn't act cocky with them, they were just working. "Well, first of all, look at your shoes. It was raining this morning and you will dirty my floor. And she will also want you to stay here, you can ask the queen."
Queen Elizabeth turned around and nodded at the bodyguards. With this, the matter was settled.
Once Magnus was gone, the three guards in suits started talking to each other.
Guard 1: Hmph, what a cocky kid.
Guard 2: Not really. Don't you recognise him? He won a George Cross at 9 and even owns his own company right now. What were you doing at 9?
Guard 3: *Whistle* Probably eating sand and dreaming of infinite chocolates.
Guard 1: I hope my son is able to achieve even 1 per cent of what he did.
Guard 3: His father must have hit the jackpot of the lifetime, to not only marry such an intelligent beauty but also have such a son. Life is unfair.
Guard 2: Indeed... AH!"
*BOP* *BOP* *PA*
All of a sudden, three large blobs of bird poop fell on their heads. While on the terrace, Abe and George laughed.
"Huh, serves them right, talking bad about Mister Adam and Lady Grace," Abe scoffed.
George nodded and turned to Summer who was flying, "Yes, Good job, Summer. Come, I got special treats for you."
...
Inside the house,
They drank tea and just talked about what their plans were going to be. By the end of this year, Adam was going to be announced. It was important that they start integrating Magnus into the royal circle, so that when the time comes, nobody can say anything against him.
"I just met Lord Mountbatten a few days ago, it's amazing how he acted when I talked to him about you, Grace. He actually referred to you as Lady Pendragon." Queen Elizabeth revealed.
Grace felt goosebumps on herself when she heard that. Lady Pendragon sounded so badass.
"You too, Magnus. As he is the maternal uncle of my husband, he should have known that I and Adam are not related. But he whispered in my ear, asking me how Adam and you are. What did you do to them? How are they acting as if everything is normal?" She asked in disbelief.
Magnus proudly lifted his chin, "Hehe, that's magic, granny. Just wait a few more months, soon all high nobles will recognise mum and dad."
What she didn't know was that this job was too damn hard. Obliviating was very easy, planting memory was a hellish task. If you were not careful, you could end up harming someone. Also, this magic was only working on muggles, if it were some wizard, they would have found out about it.
"That would be wonderful. I have already initiated collecting all the documents necessary for you to take the throne. You will have to remember a lot of names of people, organisations, locations and countries. I have brought you a booklet." She said and handed it to him.
Surprisingly, when Magnus read the name on the book, he chuckled, "Haha, did you name it?"
She denied, "No, dear. It's been called 'A Royal Headache' for the past 2 generations now." She revealed, making Magnus laugh.
He took the booklet and just turned its pages one after another. And he got a migraine from it. He had thought that there wouldn't be much because the booklet was small and thin. Now he knew why, because the text on the pages was so small, there were thousands of names on each page.
His face sweated, "Eh... I will read at night."
"Haha... I had the same reaction. At least you are getting time to read them. I didn't, I had to memorise names while I was getting ready to give a speech about my eventual coronation.
"Let's leave this discussion. I am so proud of you, Grace. You really are a role model for everyone. Even in the darkest times of our country since the war, there are people who are lifting the country's hope.
"So many economists are so fast to declare that 70s will be the dark ages of modern Britain. I refuse to believe that. A country that has such inventions taking place and large scale infrastructure constructions taking place can not be in dark ages." She said.
Magnus was worried that she might slip up the news about the hospital, but thankfully she didn't. He had told her to keep it a secret in a letter.
Their talks continued till noon. She was a busy woman and had a lot of parties to attend. It did sound less like work but that was the current job of the queen of one of the oldest monarchies in the world.
When it came to leaving, she gave them a few gifts. They were mainly various kinds of expensive teabags.
"Pheew... She's trying hard to mingle with us." Grace muttered when the queen left.
"Yes, I never imagined in my life I'd even meet the Queen... Let alone become her son. Life sure has weird twists and turns." Adam sighed.
Magnus rolled his eyes, "Yeah, it sure does. I didn't even know about Arthur or Merlin, yet I'm their inheritor now."
"And me too... Never had I thought I'd be friends with the biggest greedy narcissist in the world. Life sure is strange." Ragnar added with an exaggerated head shake. He was in his lab all this time, saying that he couldn't care less about a muggle Queen.
Hearing Ragnar, Magnus angrily chased him, "Really? Should I also start talking about those magazines now?"
Ragnar's face lost its colour and he jumped at Magnus to hold his mouth. He whispered in his ears. "Don't, Mag. These things shouldn't come out. These are the boy's secrets."
"Really? How convenient for you. MUMMY... DO YOU KNO..." Magnus started shouting.
Ragnar, seeing no choice, took out a potion bottle and poured its contents into Magnus' mouth.
Shocked, Magnus gulped. "What the... Agdj jhgf idyy iehdh?"
"Heh, this is tongue twister potion. Now you will speak gibberish for the next hour. Enjoy." Ragnar let Magnus go now.
"FHFH SHDHU FUUUU..."
It was obvious that Magnus was cursing, but Ragnar just laughed at him and left.
...
Laughter, fun, studies and hard work filled Magnus' home for the coming days. His holidays were limited to begin with and his time to return to his school was nearing.
But the one running out of time was Adam, as when Ragnar leaves, his research would also come to a halt. He only needed some help with the battery, everything else would be achievable by himself.
Ragnar had been helping him create a working and economically viable Lithium-ion battery.
He was also working very hard to help Adam. By now, he had understood what Adam needed. Although he didn't understand much about the electrons stuff. All he knew was the material he needed to create.
He was just reading different research papers from various institutes around the world. He didn't understand much. He's just read their names and if interested would read further.
"Hmm? Solid-State Battery? What's this? Solid Electrolyte? This is pretty similar to what I'm making, but safer. Argh... this is very hard..." He frustratedly scratched his hair.
He was very close to making a working example of a Lithium-ion battery. But it had already caught fire 30 times since he started creating the final battery. It was obvious that this thing would not be safe. And when it reaches the market, all the companies that are themselves researching it will pounce on Adam, calling the battery a very dangerous invention. And when they also develop it, they will start lobbying for its advantages.
"Solid Electrolyte? what can it be?" He wondered and returned to his workstation, to look at various substances he uses in his potions. Throughout his time researching with Adam, Ragnar had learned one thing. There were many items that muggles take too much money to produce from nature while wizards get it easy with magic. Just take Lithium for example. It was very costly in the muggle market, but in a potions shop, it was cheap.
He again folded his sleeve and got to work. Just wanting to finish this project before heading to school.
"I wonder how much money Uncle Adam will make with this new battery. Will people even buy it?" He wondered, not knowing what he was creating could be worth billions.
