Chapter 21: possession and it's types: a comprehensive study
"I can't believe it" Padma said munching through the wizard version of crackers.:"you disrespected a teacher, by calling him a HALF-BREED, to his face, and you are APPLAUDED for it."
The party was still raging well after 11 o clock with no plans of stopping. While the higher years went completely nuts in the central atrium with butter beer and heavier stuff, the lower years like us sat in the sidelines eating our crackers.
"And I can't believe you are actually taking that prat's side in this." said Terry, snatching up a bunch of crackers at once, and throwing them all into his mouth, and started chewing much to Padma's disgust.
Padma scowled at Terry and replied:"first of all use a napkin CHEW-bacca. It's disgusting. And secondly that's not the point. We are a house of scholars. No matter what kind of a dick, yeah I said it, snape is, he is still your professor. Think about how would it reflect on the house of knowledge, when it's own group members, do not respect knowledge."
I looked at her and shrugged:"dunno. Don't give a shit. I regret nothing."
Padma rolled her eyes:"of course you don't. That is why you were off in the dungeons today scrubbing potion pots."
I chuckled at that. Michael who stayed silent suddenly asked: "you really think snape's in the right here?"
She sighed at that:"In my country there is a saying. Matha, pitha, guru, Deivam. It literally means mother, father, teacher, God. It is the order in which these entities should be respected. God comes not first, second or even third. Only one who respects his mother, father, and teacher can truly respect God. So it doesn't matter if snape is right here or not. He is providing you with the greatest gift of them all. Knowledge. And there's nothing you have to offer that even comes remotely close to it in value. So you give the only thing you have to offer. Respect!!"
All three of were sat there with our mouth half open. After a few seconds of fumbling I finally figured out how to use words:"wow... That's deep."
But then a smile crept up into my face:"which is why you HAVE to remind me to thank this God of yours for NOT letting me born in your country."
Padma rolled her eyes, with a slight chuckle on her face.
"welcome to Great Britain darling, where aethism runs rampant through the lands. So I don't think I would need to follow that rule."I replied to her with a smile.:"Anyways it's almost 12. My back is killing me from all that scrubbing and I gotta hit the sack. See you in the morning ravens."

My eyes fluttered through the pages of the book running through words, searching for what I was looking for. I lay sprawling on my bed, in my room, with the book on possessions in my pillow, burning the midnight oil. I flipped through hundreds of pages of various types of magical creatures possessions without skipping a beat. Some of the pages described stuff so dark and horrific. The vilest, evilest parts of magic. but I didn't, couldn't let that stop me.
My eyes passed through the pages laser focused, completely bypassing the fine print until..... finally I found it.
TYPES OF POSESSIONS
My eyes slightly widened. I exhaled a breath I had been holding till then. Now to give you some context. I did not want to be in cannon. I absolutely one hundred percent reviled that thought. But I didn't want to be caught unware by cannon either. So I needed some safe guards, just in case.
If Shit goes down There was no way, and I mean absolutely NO way for me to fight quirellmort. which is why I needed quirell out of the picture.
Now why is that? You see, I had fairly good reason to believe that volde in his spirit form had trouble casting magic. Allow me to explain. In the final battle between cannon Harry and volde in year one after Harry gets the philosopher's stone, Voldemort, in his wraith form, physically, tries to take it away from him.
Voldemort is a man who respects his identity as a wizard over everything else. Now don't you think it's odd that such a man would resort to physical means to retrieve the stone instead of magical? Obviously this not conclusive proof. But there is more.
It took voldemort months to take control of the auror while he was hiding in the jungles. Imagine that. It took months of effort for VOLDEMORT to cast an unforgivable spell.
So in order for me to EVEN have a fighting chance I needed to separate him from quirell. In order to do that I needed to understand what kind what kind of possession quirell was under.
There all caught up.
I scowled as my eyes went over the the book.
'Magic has three components. Mind, soul and body. And the quality of these three components determine the quality of one's magic. Possession is the art of taking over one's self through these three components.
1)posession of the mind.
Possession of one's mind can be through various means. This can be done by implanting suggestions in one's head or erasing one's memories or implanting new memories through the art of legilimency. The common way of recognizing possession of the mind is through subtle changes in one's personality and daily routin- '
No that's not it. I didn't notice an ounce of volde's persona in quirell's. Now an idiot might ask how could I tell them apart when someone like Dumbledore couldn't. Simple. It's easier to hide from someone who don't know what they are looking at. Dumbledore didn't know he was hiring voldemort when he hired quirell. I did. So it was easier to spot if there was any blind spots in his personality. And there wasn't any.
Moving on.
'2)possession of the soul.
Possession of the soul is a completely different form of possession. If mind possession as implanting a few false memories, possession of the soul was completely erasing one's self and replacing it with anoth-'
Nope. That's not it either. Again there wasn't any personality change. I sighed as I went on to the next one.
'3)possession of the body.
Possession of the body is different from the first two. Instead of taking control of one's self it directly controls one's body similar to a skinwalker. It's a parasitic infection which forcibly takes control of one's body. It is often unidentifiable due to lack of changes in an individuals self but-'

This was it. THIS WAS IT. this was how voldemort controlled quirell. A sense of euphoria appeared within me. I quickly flipped through the pages til I reached the page necessary.
Possession of body: prevention
My eyes devoured every word hungrily looking for an answer.
