Chapter 38: Chapter 37: The End? [Eunice]
"So now that we're done here...what now?" Valor asked, "Well there's still the whole robbing thing. We can pillage this entire place and get the hell out of here."
"So set this place on fire?" A flame appeared on top of Jay's finger, as they prepared to burn the place down.
"My my my...aren't all of you just a ragtag group of weaklings. Weak by themselves and weak together." A man appeared through the darkness, as he held his tophat with one hand and a cane with the other. His right eye was completely covered by a monocle, as he wore a black suit with white gloves. His left eye was pure blood red.
"Who are you calling a weakling, Gramps?" Valor stepped forward brandishing his sword, as the old man simply walked outside. The moon was shining brightly, as everyone was on their guard.
'I don't feel anything from this old man. I can usually scope out a person's overall power, but..I don't even feel a hint of strength from him. Not the slightest bit of fluctuation of his Mana...it's like he doesn't even have Mana…what is he?'
"My, the moon is quite beautiful tonight isn't it?" Without another word, the cane was unsheathed to reveal a thin sword. Valor blocked the first strike, but was pushed back significantly before Kai tried his luck. Eunice gripped her chain scythe, as she burst forward intending to end the fight with a swift slice of the neck. One moment, one millisecond, Eunice swore she could see the man's mouth form a wicked smile before blocking the attack and sending her flying into a wall. She ripped herself out from the wall to see Daisy healing Kai. Jay and Davis were busy trying to buy time, but the old man seemed to be playing with them. He wasn't in a hurry and right now they were trapped.
'How can someone's Mana be so heinous? I feel like I can barely move due to the pressure….are we going to die?' Eunice closed her eyes, as she channeled her Mana to use a skill.
"[Assassin's Indifference]" The world was dyed red, as she slowly and stealthily walked over to the old man while his attention was elsewhere. Memories of darker times and her life played back to her.
"You're solely a weapon to be used by >#&;×>#&. A broken weapon has no place and no use for anyone. You don't matter if you are of no use. You are not human, remember that and you'll reach the top." The memory was stopped by the old man cutting deeply into Eunice with a malicious grin.
"You almost had me. Too bad you're too weak. Here let me sit you up, so you can watch me massacre your friends." Eunice sat up on a wall, as her skill kept her conscious, but out of the fight. She watched, as Valor charged at the old man with a cold gaze. He seemed oddly calm, as he tried any trick, or move he had to defeat the old man. Meanwhile, Leon got ready to summon the Chimera again while Kai used his shield to block as many attacks from the old man as he could. The swift slash of his blade kept pushing Valor back, as Euncie's blood slowly obstructed her vision. Daisy arrived in front of her and started to heal her, as the pain alleviated. Jay fired a giant blast of lightning at the man, but the old man used Valor as a human shield to block the crackling beam of lightning. The old man threw Valor to the side before grabbing one of Davis' arrows and using it to pierce Jay's thigh. Jay punched the man and tried to electrocute him, but was thrown aside before he could activate the ring. Leon managed to summon the creature, but was soon stabbed in the arm before being kicked to a nearby wall. Valor once more stood up, as he gripped his sword and sturdily planted his feet. His sword gained a dark black hue, as his eyes turned white. He charged once more and swung his sword down. The attack missed, but soon the sword was brought back up impossibly quickly. The man had to block a kick to his gut before having his monocle's chain sliced off. The man recovered and aimed his blade at Valor's heart.
'Please...get up...don't let him...die..please..don't you die..on us..Val…' Luckily, the Chimera tackled the old man, as Valor's sword danced all around the old man. This brief moment allowed Valor to take a stab at the old man's heart. The old man redirected it, but Valor spun his sword in his hands to increase the power and continue the stabbing motion. At this moment, the old man decided to stab Valor, but Jay and Davis used the fact that the old man's attention was solely on Valor and the Chimera to fire shots at his legs. This seemed to be checkmate, as there was no escape.
"You've piqued my curiosity, but I'm going to show you your place." His black Mana flared up and the man sent everyone except Kai, Daisy, and Eunice flying back. They were now down for the count, as Eunice swore she could see him smile before turning towards Valor and raising his sword.
