"M.I.B.? What is this? Noah, did he offer you a job or something?" Jay was a little bewildered. It felt like he really had drunk too much and forgot a lot of things.
"I forgot. Maybe... Who knows? I'm going to check it out tomorrow." Noah shrugged, took the glass and took a sip.
Hiss~~ 'This tequila is really strong.'
"Why did he just invite us both? It's not like I don't have a job. Besides, I like being a cop." Jay stuffed the business card into Noah's hand, picked up his glass and took a sip.
'Damn it!' He just remembered that he was the one who drove here. How could he drink so much?
'Forget it... Whatever...' Anyway, looking at the time, it was too late to go to a bar. They might as well drink here.
"Jay, come with me to the interview tomorrow. You did agree." Noah said, after thinking about it for a while.
If he had a familiar person as a partner, he wouldn't be lonely there. When you enter the M.I.B., they would 'delete' everything about you, and you 'won't exist' anymore.
You could only return to normal life after retiring.
"I agreed? How come I don't remember? All right, all right, I'll drive you to the interview tomorrow. Cheers ~~ Let's have another drink."
"No, no, no, no. We have to stay sober. Let's go. I'll buy you a drink after my interview tomorrow." Noah didn't want to drink tequila anymore, and he preferred beer.
When they walked out of the restaurant, Jay looked around, "Do you remember where I parked my car?"
"Can't remember. Isn't that a cab? Let's take a cab back and come back tomorrow when we've sobered up. You're a cop anyway. Who would want to steal your ride?"
The car was abandoned when they chased the alien, who fell from the building. Later, they took a police car to the police station. Right now, he couldn't even recall what the car looked like right now.
'Did I lock the car door? Should be alright, right?'
"Yeah, no one would touch a cop's car in this neighbourhood. Let's take a cab home."
Back in the apartment, Jay collapsed on the bed, snoring. Noah washed his face, shut himself in his room and made a cup of coffee.
When he met K today, he blurted out the other party's identity. It was actually quite risky. But at that time, he had no other choice, and K wanted to erase his memory.
At least K granted him an interview. He was wondering how many people they planned to recruit this time. If there was only one slot, he had to apologise to Jay.
He was at LV2 now, and his physical quality was far superior to that of ordinary people. Unfortunately, as an agent, he had to know how to shoot, and he wasn't good at it. He wanted to see if the attribute points could be used.
The next morning, Noah was awakened by Jay's cursing.
"Jay, what's the matter? Don't you have the day off today?" Noah opened the door, yawned and walked to the bathroom.
"Damn it! Someone stole my car. A guy from my department called me over and said that the thief also stole my collectable E.T. dolls in the car!" Jay's face looked indignant. The colleague actually said he forgot to lock the car; there was no sign of lock picking. 'How is that possible! I never forget to lock the car!'
"It's a blessing that everything else is there. Wait a minute; I'll wash up, and then let's pick up the car. Don't forget; you'll accompany me to the M.I.B. interview."
"Interview? I thought I was drunk yesterday and dreaming, so you really got a job? Come on. We should go right now."
After getting into the cab, Jay still asked, "You really didn't prepare anything for the interview? You're not bringing anything?"
"No, what information? The company knows everything already." If the M.I.B. couldn't get any information on him, they weren't ready to be the protectors of Earth.
And not only can they get it, but they could take it away.
"Finally, my car!" Jay reached out and touched the hood of the car. "It's okay. Great! Nothings broken. Unfortunately, my E.T. had been stolen. Wait till I find that guy!"
"It's okay; I'll get you some more interesting alien collectables," Noah said so with ease. After seeing more aliens, it would feel as if E.T. was nothing at all.
"I'll wait for your first paycheck. By the way, why are you wearing sunglasses?"
"Nothing, I think sunglasses make me look good."
"Hey, I'm the best-looking detective in all of New York. You're telling me about looking good?" Jay raised one eyebrow.
"It's a pity that you don't have a girlfriend." Noah quietly teased.
"I've been a cop for several years, and I've caught hundreds of criminals."
"It's a pity that you don't have a girlfriend."
"I was the NYPD's shooting champion last year."
"It's a pity that you don't have a girlfriend."
"That's enough! What else can you say besides that? No, you don't have a girlfriend either!" Jay felt annoyed.
"You lost your E.T."
Jay: "You better not say a word to me until ... we get there."
After a while, Noah looked at Jay but didn't say a word. He just kept staring.
"All right, all right, just say what you want, okay?" Noah's silent non-blinking stare defeated Jay.
"You just drove past it. The M.I.B. should be at the right on the last street."
"Damn it! Why didn't you say so!?" Jay quickly took a turn. He didn't want his friend to be late for the interview; it was already 8.50.
Squeak~~
The brakes were pressed at No.504 Battery Drive, and the tires screeched. Noah got out of the car, "Jay, don't you want to come in with me and take a look?"
"You have an interview. Why should I go?" Jay waved his hand. "I haven't had breakfast yet, so I'm going over there to get a doughnut."
"I've never been to this place before; what if it's a scam? You're a cop; you have experience in dealing with bad guys. Help me keep an eye on things? After the interview, I'll treat you to dinner." Noah helped Jay open the car door and looked very timid.
"Hahaha, no scammer would dare to do that in front of a cop. You're right. What if it's a scam? I'll accompany you in. If you pass it, you'll have to treat me to dinner."
Jay parked his car, wearing a casual T-shirt, whistled and walked in with Noah. The words on the wall say Triborough Bridge & Tunnel Authority. Jay was confused.
"Noah, what exactly are you applying for? Is there a job in the Triborough Bridge & Tunnel Authority for you?"
Noah shrugged, "Who knows? Anyway, I need a job now. I'm also a little hesitant about this, so I need you to come."
"Don't worry, we are friends, and with me around, no one would scam you." Jay opened the door.
The entrance was a corridor. Only one person with a newspaper was sitting in a chair. 'Is this the guard?'
"What can I do for you two?" The newspaper reader looked up.
"Yeah, this guy gave us this card." Jay held out the business card.
"Two people?" The guy holding the newspaper seemed confused, but he still pointed to the elevator in front of them, "Elevator."
