Chapter 13: Chapter 12 - Supreme Birth
As the bartender mumbled the enigmatic words,
"The cosmos is one within you and you... You are the cosmos. It beats in you, breathes in you, lives in you, and dies in you. 'You' are nothing but an illusion."
A strange light enveloped him, and Magnus watched in awe. "What!? What is this?!" Magnus exclaimed, his senses reeling, as if thousands of ants crawled on his back.
Suddenly, a devastating wind erupted from the bartender's body, a powerful force that blew Magnus away and ravaged the surroundings.
Magnus bewildered and caught off guard by what has just occurred, "G-God Damnit!! What the hell!!" As he went flying by.
An explosion of magical energy erupted, drawing the attention of everyone at the celebration.
Mia and Zubair noticed it first and headed straight to the source, like a bird chasing the moon.
The explosion had finally concluded, and the entire been destroyed alongside the neighboring buildings.
Magnus standing with a scratch, his body being completely unfazed by what had just occurred, he was only taken back by the sudden turn of events.
Rather than Magnus being scared, his face showed extreme joy, it was as if he had found a gem, a gem so precious that even his cold heart was excited by it.
He had never imagined that such events would unfold, he was in complete awe that he had come across such a rare and beautiful sight, "T-This is Ridiculous..."
In the aftermath of the explosion, the old bartender had undergone a remarkable transformation.
He was young once more, and a potent magical aura enveloped him. Magnus couldn't contain his surprise.
"That power... Don't tell me... That bastard broke through his shell?? Is he a Supreme Mage now??" he mused, bewildered.
Mia, who had just arrived on the scene, added to Magnus's comment "And a stupendously strong one at that..."
"I want to fight him... I want to rip his head off... I want to drink his blood!!" her voice tinged with excitement.
Water running through her mouth, she was a predator looking at her prey, a special specimen that she wanted to devour, a treat with unmatched aroma!
"Hold it in Mia... Hold it in!!!" Murmured Mia while holding her belly, it was as if she was a beast whose animal instincts were kicking in.
Zubair being there as well, whispered with a worrisome expression "That sly old geezer... he finally did it... the wall that blocked his path for decades... he finally broke through it!!"
"Dammit... I hate to admit it but... he might even be stronger than me now...." His face became sweaty, it was as if he had lost a race, a race against his last rival.
The bartender stepped in front of Magnus. Magnus, initially defensive, questioned, "What are ya lookin' at?? Ya wanna fight, old man?"
To his astonishment, the bartender took a bow, a bow of elegance and utmost respect directed straight towards Magnus, the old man expressing his profound gratitude.
"I, Bali, am in your debt forever. From now till I draw my last breath... I shall be in your debt! Your words made me achieve a level I only dreamed of reaching!"
"Sound Magic: Amplification" chanted the old man, a magic that covered the entire town of Balkias, making Bali's voice echo all over the town.
"I Bali the leader of the town of Balkias!! The Minister of the Magic Council of Zibar!! Thank Magnus Blackwood!! From the bottom of my heart!! And from today onwards I shall do whatever Magnus may wish!"
Zubair is flabbergasted by this announcement, his old rival surpassing was already heart-wrenching, and now his best friend has announced to be someone's shadow.
Magnus in shock, and visibly bothered, says, "What!! I don't need a disgusting geezer like you under me!!"
Bali understanding Magnus's character morphed his words, into something that Magnus could understand.
"Oh come on, who said I'll be tagging along with you?? Huh?? Do you think so highly of yourself?? Hahaha!!" to which Magnus is dumbfounded and is lost for words.
"Listen kid... I'll always be here for you... No matter what you need... Money, power, or anything, I'll always be here for you, I'll help you even if it costs me my life itself..."
At this point, the crowd had already gathered, they had never seen Bali in his youth.
But still, every one of them, when they lay their eyes on the now young Bali, they immediately recognized him, completely understanding the entire situation.
With a word being spoken, the entire town looked at each other, they knew but still just stared, at each other as if they were waiting for something.
Bali finally broke the silence, "Yes you idiots, stop staring at me like that, I am Bali, I finally broke through the wall that blocked my life!!"
The entire town jumped in joy, "Hell yeah!!" A voice is heard from one end, "He did it, he finally did it!!" another voice arises, "Yes he did it, he spent his entire life for this moment!"
"He may be a drunk old man now... But who cares!! he did save everyone here in the Great War!!"
"The Great Bali of the hellfire, our hero and savior has finally reached it, the level of supreme Mage, the highest level a Mage can be!!"
The atmosphere was filled with joy, everyone jumping and dancing with excitement, it was as if the entire town had achieved something, a valor that would make their town even more powerful.
The town leader's sudden transformation and the show of respect from the townspeople left Magnus and his companions baffled at first.
They had no clue as to what their situation was, they did not know what to feel or how to react, they just stood there awkwardly.
After reminiscing for a while, Mia finally decided to join the celebration, "What the hell am I doing staring at you idiots... I'm gonna go have some fun!!"
As the townspeople cheered and congratulated their now-young town leader, Magnus instantly figured out the best to make out of this opportunity.
He grabbed Bali through his collar and jumped on a nearby rooftop, Bali enjoying the moment jokes, "Oh! My! My! What are you going to do with me Magnus~"
Magnus feeling disgusted, started having second thoughts on his choice.
"Shut up Geezer, Ya may have already heard about it that we are departing tomorrow, but I'm changing the plans... We will depart in two days, to gather the so-called 10 guardians," he said.
"I want ya to arrange skilled expedition teams, in these two days, get them out from whichever ditch ya can, the ones ya think would be the best."
Town Leader Bali responded with assurance, "No worries Magnus! You guys rest and enjoy without any worries. Everything will be ready by tomorrow."
Magnus couldn't help but wear a proud smile.
His successful interaction with the town leader and the impending arrangement of skilled expedition teams filled him with a sense of accomplishment.
Although he tried to maintain his stoic demeanor, the happiness in his eyes betrayed him.
Mia and Zubair, however, had other plans for their usually reserved companion.
They captured Magnus, locking his arms, and determined to draw him into the heart of the celebration.
Despite his resistance, they dragged him toward the party, where music and laughter filled the air. "Ya demons!! leave me alone!! ya will suffer if ya don't!!" shouted Magnus.
Just as Magnus was about to make a final stand against joining the merriment, Skin, the enigmatic member of their group, made a playful yet mildly eerie appearance.
"Magnus... oh dear Magnus... you better come with us," Skin urged in a manner that sent shivers down Magnus's spine.
Resigned to the inevitability of joining the party, he finally gave in.
The group, now united, including Ava, Skin, Magnus, Mia, Zubair, Zubair's wives, and Abacus, reveled in the festivities.
They indulged in the delectable food and drink, immersing themselves in the joy of the moment.
Laughter, dance, and camaraderie filled the air, carrying them into the early hours of the morning.
