Chapter 3: Chapter Three

THE PREVIOUS DAY....

Grey sat in his office tiredly. He was going through the assigned budgets for each department

after receiving a mail about shortage of money in some departments.

His phone rang and got up to his floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the city placing the phone on his ear.

"What do you want Clara?" Grey sighed exhasperatedly into the phone.

"You promised to hang out with me last weekend. What happened?" Clara questioned. She was Grey's ex and the only woman to last that long matter of factly. But the truth was, Grey wasn't built for relationships.

"Clara I only said that to make you get off my back" Grey replied scratching his left brow. "We broke up six months ago, get over yourself"

"I-y- you didn't just say that to me" she exclaimed.

. "I have other things to do" he sighed pulling the phone away from his ear. "Goodbye" and before she could protest, Grey had cut the call on her.

He sighed sitting down with his head between his hands, he had too much on his mind to deal with any of her bullshit.

Clara was a daughter of one of their investors and the man was kind enough to offer his daughter to Grey. But Grey wasn't interested in having anything long term and had told her before hand.

But in the end, just like any other woman he'd ever been with, she tried to stick herself to him. It was irritating and he only bore with it throughout the whole product launch and immediately the contract between he and her father expired, he broke it off.

Did he care about these women? Absolutely not! He loved his peace and quiet, things always going the way he wanted. He was only twenty seven after all, he had alot of time on his hands.

.

Sighing, he picked up the papers going through it and his face scrunched up in a scowl. "Evan?" He called out angered at how much has been cut from the PR team's budget.

"Yes sir" Evan replied coming in from his small office just right outside Grey's. "What is this?" He asked. Turning his laptop towards Evan.

"S-sir I can't see it proper_"

"Why Is the budget for the PR team so small? He boomed interrupting Evan. "It's-it's Mr Carter sir" Evan stuttered weary of his boss' angry face.

"Why can't this man let me be" Grey sighed tiredly rubbing a hand through his hair. "Evan?" He called out.

"Sir?"

"Call my father and tell him that I don't care what he thinks he should stop cutting down the budget for my PR team" Grey said angrily now standing up and walking towards the floor to ceiling window on the side of his office that gave a great view of the city.

"Okay sir" Evan said nodding and left towards his own desk outside.

A few minutes later, after Grey was already settled down in his sit reviewing the review on their latest product launch, when Evan walked in again looking worriedly.

"What's with that look?" Grey asked irritatedly.

"Your Dad said if you needed to talk to him you should go meet him in person" Evan explained cautiously knowing that Grey hated hearing about his father.

"That old hag!" he said getting up angrily. "Put those papers on my desk and call Lockwood. We are going there now" He instructed.

He removed his jacket angrily putting it on his fore arm and stormed out of the room and towards the elevator with Evan striding worriedly behind him.

A few minutes later, they were driving down the road towards Mr James Carte's house. Grey had a very angry expression on his face making Evan sit the very end of the seat cautiously trying to avoid being in the middle of Grey's rage.

"Drive faster" he instructed and Mr Lockwood nodded looking worriedly at him through the review mirror.

Grey picked up his phone clicking on it angrily before turning to Evan who looked like he was about to puke. "We lost a three staff, why haven't they been replaced?" He asked angrily.

"N-no sir I couldn't hold interviews during the weekend so I had to wait till today"

"And?" Grey questioned. "I don't take matters like these very likely" he warned looking impatiently at him.

"I-I- haven't found someone_" Evan tried to explain but was interrupted by the blaring of their horn. Evan looked out his window and saw a petit brunette who was crossing the road sluggishly.

Mr Lockwood kept pushing on the horn but the girl didn't seem to hear and a few minutes later there was a thud and things flying in the air.

They had hit her.

And Grey wasn't having it.
