Chapter 172: Remembering

Two days later, Riley could walk around limping. Rona handed him a walking stick to lean on, and she tried hard to look as if she didn't care. Berk was not in the room, so he decided to walk outside and get some air.

Outside, near the house hung the poles where laundry was hung. The house was in a set near a stream, and trees stood in lush green around. To the left, he saw an empty stable, and in front, an axe was planted in a tree stump.

The sun was high in the sky, but in the woods, it wasn't hot. He decided to walk the way past the stump, and into the woods. His memory was still foggy and he hoped a walk might help it to become clear.

He had only started to cross the tall redwood, and suddenly, a hand cupped his shoulder. "I wouldn't suggest going out in your condition," Berk said coming to his side. "Too many wolves."
