Chapter 1: Pilot

Deep in the dark tunnels under a large castle, Alexander opened his eyes only to find himself alive once again but trapped behind the bars of a grotesque prison cell.

But as the young man regained all his senses, the darkness of the holding cell didn't seem to be the bigger problem when the rotting gutter smell invaded his nostrils and almost made him puke out his empty stomach.

'I'm in a shit hole.' Alexander coughed while thinking and covered his nose with the shirt he was wearing.

The rough fabric provided him enough relief for him to breath properly.

'I was supposed to be dead.' Alexander thought while inspecting his holding cell, which was dimly lit by a torch outside the bars.

Based on the appearance of his jail, Alexander wondered if he had travelled back into the medieval age and gotten himself imprisoned somehow.

But as his thoughts kept wondering about the possibilities, Alexander slowly regained the memories of his past Seventeen years of life, which he had lived as an orphan in the miserable capital called Kingslanding.

He was impressed by how he had survived for so long, because it was clearly his alternate self who had lived the first seventeen years of his life until he regained the memories of his past life, of Alexander Wick.

He was still named Alexander in this life through some odd luck, but here he had inherited the last name of Rivers as an Orphan Bastard.

Since a very young age, Alexander had survived through the harsh environment of the rotting capital through his sheer Indomitable Will and the resilience he had obtained through some miracle.

And knowing that surviving Kingslanding couldn't be possible without courage, Alexander had started his early childhood by becoming a successful little theif, until he was eventually captured by a Blacksmith when he tried to rob a blade from his forge.

Alexander had imagined the worse when he was caught, but instead of turning him in to the corrupt knights or some twisted Lord for a hefty reward, the wise Blacksmith decided to teach him a lesson at life and appointed him as his apprentice.

From there on, Alexander began his journey as an uprising Blacksmith, who had earned a name for himself in the Capital as a Master Smith after a decade of Forging and craftsmanship.

But with popularity also came all kinds of attention, which was also the reason for his current predicament. Alexander had recently refused to work for some Lannister lord, who was attracted by his potential to generate capital through his immense talent in Forging.

Alas, a Blacksmith wasn't all he was, Alexander was secretly also a practitioner of Magecraft and capable of crafting magical items, which had helped him and his Master to survive for so long in the capital.

Even now, Alexander was going to use one of his abilities to escape out of the prison, that was until he regained the memories of his past life at the exact moment he turned Eighteen.

'So I've inherited a System.' As a cultured man, Alexander obviously knew what the blue panel indicated.

While the System took its sweet time loading his Status, Alexander studied his Magical abilities and skills that he had strangely acquired through some odd luck or Gods blessings.

Although there was one thing he noticed immediately, or perhaps realised sounded better, that he was the Bastard of none other than Robert Baratheon, the current seat warmer of the Iron Throne and the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.

With Black hair, deep blue eyes and a robust physique, it was clear he had inherited the dominating genes of the Baratheon. Though, he was pretty sure that his astounding height of 6'3 feet, Herculean physique, and his handsome looks was a trait he had acquired on his own.

Robert could only wish that he was as athletic, strong, and good looking as him.

'I guess it's here.' Alexander thought excitedly when he saw the holographic screen lit up.

"Hm.. Hm.. Hm..." Alexander mumbled as he thoroughly inspected his Status page, 'Most of it checks out, but can you explain me the Stats and the reductions?'

Alexander intentionally spoke in his mind to make sure nobody was listening to him.

People had been called mad for lesser reasons, much less than self talking and use of unknown modern age terms.

[The Average Stats for the Human Race is 10 points, while their Maximum potential is 20. In rare cases, people can surpass their potential in certain attributes and evolve into a new race such as High Human, Mage, or even the Dragon Tamer, which is commonly to appear in the Targaryen Bloodline.]

'Understood.' Alexander nodded as he thought about certain characters like the Red Priestess, the Mountain, the Andals, and also the White Walkers.

[As for your reduction in Charm and Luck Attributes, it's because of your Status as a Bastard in Kingslanding.]

'Then I'm no longer a Bastard anymore.' Alexander decided to counter the shackles holding him back, 'I'll rename myself to my true name, Alexander Wick.'

[Name updated: Alexander Wick.]

[Stats Updated.

Charm: 21

Luck: 15.]

'Hm, that was easy.' Alexander thought in disbelief and smiled pleasantly, 'But I guess escaping this prison would be much easier.'

Although the Lannister guards had taken away his Sword and Coin purse, Alexander still had a pair of blades hidden under his bracers incase he needed to fight someone.

He knew what he was going to do after escaping from this nasty prison, which was fleeing the capital after collecting his artefacts and the pile of Gold coins he had saved over the years.

Leaving old master Gerth behind would be a bit disheartening for him, but Alexander knew he couldn't stay in the capital for long, especially since the purge of Bastards could happen anytime soon.

The new Hand of the King was already in Kingslanding, and it wouldn't be long before he went Bastard hunting to find out why Robert's seed was deemed to be so strong.

But where would be go from here?

There were multiple options, for example, he could cross the Narrow Sea and easily start a business in Bravos, or he could go beyond the Wall and unravel the mysteries of White Walkers and the long night.

Or perhaps, he could just take things simple and travel wherever his mind took him.

Although, there was one thing for sure, Alexander would eventually involve himself in the game of thrones, because there was no way he was giving up his birthright of the Iron Throne, even if he was a Bastard of the Usurper.

'Not gonna lie, I'm feeling a bit giddy and excited.' Alexander was shaking in his place with a wide grin as he felt the magic dance on fingertips and swirl around him.

The sensation of Mana came naturally to him as a prodigious and talented Mage, who had acquired the Skills of Fire Manipulation, Blood Magic, Shadow Manipulation, and Runecrafting all on his own.

While he was not as efficient in casting Shadow Magic as compared to Rune Crafting, Alexander was still able to cast a spell that allowed him to submerge in the shadows of the prison cells and travel through the darkness of the night.

It was a wierd sensation experiencing the shadow walking for the first time, but Alexander realised he had improved a lot since the last time he had casted this magic.

Was it because he had regained his memories of his past life and had the experience of two lifetimes, or was it the System's influence helping him get better?

'Maybe both?' Alexander came to the conclusion, 'My modern age experience does give me a better perspective in casting my spells and how to utilise them.'

Once he was out of the area of the holding cells, Alexander made it out of the palace, but wondered if he should take a stroll into the redkeep and take a look at the residents.

'My Mana isn't going to deplete anytime soon, so might as well.' Alexander shrugged while lurking within the shadows and decided to enter the home of the royal family.

'I wonder if I should strangle Joffrey in his sleep?' A wild thought came to his mind, stretching his lips into an amused grin.
