Damien's POV:

The room felt suffocating. Elara's voice echoed in the back of my mind, but it wasn't her words that held me captive—it was the fear, the rage, the primal need surging through my veins like wildfire. I stood there, every muscle in my body tensed, staring at Leslie. My mate. The mother of my children. She had nearly been taken from me—again. I couldn't allow it. I wouldn't allow it.

The witches wanted our children, and Elara's betrayal had only made that threat more real. As much as I hated to admit it, part of me knew she wasn't lying. The witches were coming, and they wouldn't stop. The thought made my blood boil, but it also awakened something else—something darker. A part of me I had been warned about my entire life. The part Fenrir had just revealed to me.
