Chapter 5: Birth
David was already in great tension and when Dylan said him that his wife's conditions getting serious, his face became pale.
Dylan put his hands on his shoulders and calm him down and told him to bring Galena as soon as possible.
He clenched his fist and ran to bring this Galena person, Catherine's conditions got worse with every passing minute, she was breathing heavily.
Dylan tried to help her with but nothing seems to work, she repeatedly told Catherine to try not to close her eyes, not at all, and take a long breath and try to push the baby. But Catherine didn't have much power in her body.
After a while later David came, he was panting quite hard and his whole body was covered in sweat, he takes a moment of breath and told Dylan that he brings Galena.
Dylan quickly brings her inside the house where Catherine was and told her to use healing magic on Catherine. It seems that she can use healing magic. This is a fantasy world so different types of magic exist too how can I not be noticed that. They don't need high-tech medical technology as long as they have magic.
After a single glance at Catherine's condition, she started to use her magic, it seemed to be working, and Catherine's started to get normal while Dylan uses some methods to untangle her.
Everything was going well then Galena started to run out of mana energy. Dylan was helping Catherine to push her child, the whole house was reverberating with Catherine's scream and crying.
"I- I'm run-running out of my energy, I don't think I can hold any longer."
Dylan consistently told Galena to use her magic for a little longer. She was somehow managed to use her magic for a while but because of constantly using magic without any rest her legs started to shake and everything started to look fuzzy.
"If… If only we just had even a single Dragon stone then I could have used my magic a little longer." Galena said.
"I know, but Dragon stone is very rare and valuable, it can extend the magic energy, for villagers like ourselves it's a blessing to even see, only king and nobles can acquire that." She said with disappointment.
When I heard that it can extend someone's magic energy I remembered the incident when I first time used magic. I was able to gather a large amount of mana, Catherine was also affected by that, she felt energetic for quite a while.
I had no idea if this would work or not but it's better than doing nothing, I started to gather mana without any thoughts and soon I started to felt mana in my surroundings, but I had to do something more because their body was consumed the mana that's why I gathered all that mana inside my body and then scattered inside the house.
Their body's started to absorb mana from their surroundings.
"Wha-what is happening? I don't know why but I'm starting to feel better and more energetic." Galena said she was very surprised, her eyes were wide open in confusion.
"Yeah, I felt that way too? But we don't have time to think about that. Right now we have to focus on childbirth." Dylan said with a serious look.
It had been at least 6 hours since her labor started and after the Continuous pushing by Catherine to expel me out. First, my head comes out, then the shoulders, and then the butt. Cutting the umbilical cord was the final step after I was completely out.
After that, the final stage involves the delivery of the placenta. It took about 5-30 minutes for Dylan to take out the placenta through the vaginal canal. Catherine continued to have mild contractions that will be close together and less painful.
Dylan asked Galena to use magic to encourage uterine contractions and prevent bleeding. Dylan also checked if the placenta is intact and no fragments are remaining in the uterus, causing infection or bleeding.
When everything was finally done they took a sigh and smiled at each other, she told Galena to bring warm water in a bucket and a towel.
Dylan cleaned my body with warm water and wiping me carefully and gently with a rough piece of cloth which was supposed to be a towel, maybe there is no cotton cloth, that is why she is using that rough cloth well can't help it with that this is a village located in a remote area far from big cities.
When Dylan was cleaning my body she looked at me in confusion, but she was disturbed by David who was waiting outside all this time.
She came out from inside the house and handed me to him while saying it's a boy. he gently holds me in his hands and we finally saw each other face to face, he is quite handsome with short golden hair color, light blue eyes, and sharp nose, after seeing me he got emotions then he asked while whipping his tears, " how's my wife?"
"She is fine too." She replied, she again stared at me intensely, why was she doing this, she took me back after a while from David saying the baby needs to drink milk from mother, he couldn't argue with that and handed me over quietly.
She put me beside Catherine, Catherine was half-unconscious when I was born but she looks fine, she brings out her one breast and tried to feed me but it was awkward to even my body is of a child but I'm fully grown from inside. But I didn't eat anything since my death and I need drink her breast milk to survive so I gave up.
Sometimes later David came inside and sit beside Catherine both of them thanked Dylan and Galena while bowing their heads with gratitude.
Dylan again looked at me with a questionable face before leaving, what was her problem, I don't understand.
