Gariel scoffed, his wings twitching in frustration. "They were nothing but mindless drones, following orders without question. If they had just listened to me, if they had understood the threat the Demon King posed..." He trailed off, his anger giving way to a sense of helplessness.
"Even if you had faced the Demon King, there's no guarantee you would have won," Nexus countered gently. "He is a powerful being, and his motives are shrouded in mystery. Perhaps this war is part of a larger plan, one we cannot yet comprehend."
Gariel looked up at Nexus, his eyes filled with a mix of confusion and longing. "What am I supposed to do then?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper. "Am I doomed to remain trapped here, while the world suffers?"
Nexus's expression softened. "You're supposed to be saved," he said, a cryptic smile playing on his lips. "But I won't spoil too much. Just wait."
