"Council, huh? Maybe that's where we should start then. Any idea how to get an audience with them?" Alex pondered.
Maya pursed her lips thoughtfully. "It won't be easy. The council is a secretive bunch, and audiences are rarely granted to outsiders. But…" she trailed off, a glint of mischief sparking in her eyes. "There might be a way."
Alex raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh yeah? What's the plan?"
A sly smile spread across Maya's face. "Let's just say," she began, lowering her voice even further, "I know a way to get your attention, even if you're a high and mighty council member."
Before Alex could press for more details, the vendor returned, balancing two steaming plates piled high with golden-brown duck and a platter of vibrant Zardoms. The aroma of spices and exotic fruits filled the air, momentarily distracting them from their conversation.
"There you have it, folks!" the vendor declared, setting the plates down with a flourish. "Enjoy!"
