High up in the branches of a giant tree, night had fallen, blanketing the Laury kingdom in a cloak of darkness. Alex, perched on a sturdy branch beside the silent Jian Gang duplicate (still controlled by Barty), sighed in frustration.

"I'm bored," he mumbled, kicking his legs against the rough bark.

"Sucks to be you," came the deadpan reply from the duplicate, his voice devoid of inflection.

Suddenly, a flicker of light caught Alex's eye. It wasn't starlight or moonlight, but a soft, pulsating glow emanating from a strange device strapped to his wrist – the system interface. A message materialized in a holographic display before him.
