Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Suou made his way over to the desk and turned to face everyone. Here is where he will pitch to them in order to contract five new clients.

"Who are you, geezer?" Yao Xun asked.

Geezer? To think a man at only forty years old would be considered a geezer in this kids eyes. Anyways that was not important, he'll ignore the name calling.

"My name will not be of importance to anyone here. My sole purpose is to change the lives of all the people in this room. Just look at me as your benefactor." He takes a seat in the office chair, and pulls the five contracts from the suitcase he had been lugging around.

He splayed the contracts on the desk before them, "Everyone please take a look at these contracts. If no one wishes to sign, you are welcome to put it down and leave. Those who sign will learn the reason they're here." He says.

Without any complaints, they each grabbed the contract to reveiw it. Suou was curious to see who would choose to sign a contract without really understanding what they were signing.

Contract Details. "This contract (For Player Clients) was made effective March 21st year 2023, by the Client, World God to the Client in question.

Description of Services. Beginning when the World God calls upon the client. Will help the client change their life around. If the Client agrees to sign this contract the following rules and rewards shall be applied.

1. The Client will be given a new life that is up to them to decide. The benefactor only introduces the clients reward.

2. The Contract will not mention the reward before signing. This is to keep whatever secret confidential. Upon signing the contract, the client will be bonded by the contract.

3. Before signing the contract, The client must understand that it is possible to die in the new life given. Do not sign if the client is not willing to change their life even if it means they could die at any moment.

4. After signing Clients will then learn what their fates are. The client can refuse to sign or take this opportunity to walk a new path.

5. All lives are ones own. Whether the client choose to walk a path of evil or a path of good, it's better to live a life chosen by the client.

Signature (Client): ******** Signature (Benefactor): World God."

After reading the contract, everyone was in a state of confusion. While the contract did state that their lives will change, other than that, there was nothing about what they were signing over.

What threw them off was the fact that whatever they were signing meant that their lives could be in danger. Was it really worth it? Suou leaned back to study the people in the room, the atmosphere was tense, but he kept silent.

The first one to sign the contract, surprisingly, was Yao Xun. What caught his eye was the part that mentioned the words, "Player Client." As a gamer those words alone seemed interesting. Even if he died, he would sign over his soul if he could escape his family.

"Even if it seems like a scam, I'll still sign it." The elderly woman says.

The rest followed suit. While the contract was a bit brief, the thought that they were given chances to live a new life won over reason. Suou collected the signed contracts and used the printer to make copies.

After handing over the copies to his new clients, Suou made one last warning to the group, "I only have one last thing to say, what you see here will not be able to leave this room."

Everyone was feeling nervous. What if they signed their lives over to a gangster? Or some secret organization? But it was too late to take it back. Suou could tell what they were thinking of. It was the same as the first five he encountered and signed contracts with.

Well for now, he's only revealing the portal. This way, when he's prepared to bring the ten into the new world, they would know what to expect.

Everyone sat and waited to see what this man without a name would show them. Each of them could feel the rapidness of their hearts thumping in their chests. This suspense was killing them!

Suou turned away from the group and shouted the words, "Portal Access!"

From the perspective of the new clients who felt they were watching a scifi movie play out, they saw a large man-sized portal appear out of nowhere.

Inside the portal they could see a white room with a blue sky. The portal closed after the man shouted, "Portal Close!" and faced them once again.

No one could say a word at first, but leave it to Yao Xun to break the silence. "Woah! Was that portal to another dimension!" He was out of his chair in an instant.

There was no mistaken the excitement that sparked on his face. It was a good thing that the office became soundproof once the contracts were signed. If not he would be heard by anyone who passed the office door.

"Stop talking nonsense, boy! There's no way that was real..." Wen Zhihao snaps. He was in denial but it was clear that everyone here saw that portal and the subspace inside.

"I assure you, it's real." Suou told them.

Yao Xun grins, "that's right. There's no way that was fake. Sir, will we be sent into another world?" He faced Suou who stayed silent after his question.

"Another world? How could such a thing exist? Are you sure we weren't seeing things?" Xiang Hui asked. Looks like he has two people in denial. Well when the day comes they will have no choice but to believe it.

No one else had anything to say. Yao Xun was the only one who seemed to be having a blast. Suou expected this much though. Even if they seen it, of course it would be too hard to believe. They have to experience it to believe what they saw.

It was as simple as that.

Suou packed the signed contracts and prepared to leave, "Even if you refuse to believe what you seen, all of you had already signed the contract. Once you leave this room, the thing that you saw cannot be revealed, no matter how hard you try." He had to say this to them once again.

Well, even so they will figure out that no matter how hard they try, the words about what they saw won't come out. It's a binding that prevents them to speak a word after signing the contract.

Suou opened the door to see Shi Fang waiting nearby, "thanks for this. I'll call you to let you know when I need more clients." He told him before making his way down the hall and out of the casino.

Shi Fang watched as the group of clients came out of the room in a trance-like state. The only lively one was the rich kid who looked as if he witnessed something amazing.

He refrained from asking any questions about what went down in that room. The more he probed, he could tell he wouldn't get an answer from either of them. Shi Fang already decided on his next actions after this meeting.

Whatever went on in that room, he'll find out sure enough.

Suou's Apartment 11:55 PM.

Today went better than he had thought. But he should be prepared for those who refuse to sign the contract. It's not a big loss, but if that happens it means he'll have to have some people to replace them.

Suou loosens his tie and plops down onto his couch in exhaustion. Today went well, but he still had two more days before being forcefully sent back into the portal. For the next two days, he'll write more notes and check on the progress of the land development plan.

He pulled out his cellphone and added the contacts of the manager and the clients he made today. Afterward; he stood, stretched, and discarded the suit he wore. Since it was getting late, he'll leave taking notes for tomorrow.

Yawning, Suou dragged himself to the bedroom. Before he succumbed to sleep, He prepared his notebook and pen for tomorrow and then climbed into the comforts of his bed.

Another successful day, he couldn't wait to return home.

********************

March 22nd 8:00 AM.

Suou was awake with coffee made and prepared to write notes for future world upgrades. He already had a few things in mind due to the last time he upgraded the world.

First, he'll create illnesses and diseases. With this, it comes down to imagination. Since, he had no medical knowledge, he figured it was better to just make up his own. He jotted down some illnesses and diseases he already had in mind.

These are the first five illnesses, diseases and their cures, from least dangerous to most dangerous.

Illnesses and Diseases List:

1. Fire Fever: A rare illness that cause mysterious burns to appear on parts of the body. The illness will cause dehydration, fever over 100 degrees Fahrenheit  , and hallucinations of being burnt alive. The illness is least likely to cause death, but may inflict serious scarring and trauma if not treated properly.

Cure: If one wants to fully heal the illness they must use ice that have been frozen over for three days, then apply to burnt parts of the skin. Constantly drink water every hour to quench thirst. A healer can easily cure a patient with this illness.

2. Goblin Fever: An illness from eating raw goblin meat. The illness causes fever, madness, and green colored skin. The patient will usually have to be detained since it's possible for them to bring harm to themselves or others.

Cure: Red Shiso. A common herb found in low-level monster fields. When ground to a fine powder, it can be mixed into food or drinks for the patient to take. A healer can easily cure this illness.

3. Demon Flesh Flu: A much more diabolical disease that is known to take many lives. It is a very contagious disease that have destroyed many flourishing territories. The Demon Flu starts off with fatigue and later shows rotting of the skin. It is not so easy to cure. And the death toll is not the disease itself, but the smell of rotting flesh that attracts small rodents.

Cure: A high ranking healer will be able to take care of this disease as long it gets constant treatment. Should be cured after a weak of healing. It can also be cured in the early stages after the first sign of flesh rotting. A plant that wards off rodents called, Bur Windroot. the leaves of plants can be eaten as is. Can be found in a forest with dense mana. The denser the better.

4. Blood Boils: The illness sounds simple as its name, and it is rare. But it's more deadly than any illness mentioned above. Most would say its a curse that kills the patient from within. Inside the body, the blood rises to the surface causing the skin on the body to swell with balls of blood filled boils. The patient symptoms begin with dizziness, nausea, and small blood filled boils that grow over time.

Cure: Not much can stop this disease once it starts, it'll take a divine healer to be able to heal this atrocious disease. Those who suffer from this disease, cannot afford the divine healer. So they can try this only method, and that's to climb Mount Fang where lies a large water hole that's said to heal the body from the inside out. Such a dangerous journey could kill the patient before the disease does.

And Last the fifth and top disease on this list.

5. Sigil Virus: An airborne disease from the piling up of dead monster corpses. If not handled properly the disease spreads and cannot be stopped. All that can be done, is cleaning up the corpses and quarantining any one showing signs of the virus. Symptoms include; chills, fever over 100 degrees, shallow breathing, and red eyes.

Cure: None

Suou felt that he came up with some pretty decent ideas for the Disease and Illness System. These were the top five that he came up with, the system should get a good idea and randomly generate the rest. Now he'll make a list of herbs, plants, and trees that can be cultivated into potions, powder, or ailments.
