Chapter 30: Chapter 30

(Suou's Nightmare)

Suou is faced with darkness without a single entity in sight. Even though it was dark, he began to walk until he could find light. But there was no light in sight, no matter how long he walked, it seemed as if he wasn't going anywhere.

He strolled like that and came upon his wife with her back turned. She wasn't alone, beside her was that mysterious man whom he met when he first obtained the portal.

The man looked back at him, a arm about her waist, and the corner of his mouth raised into a smirk, "she's mine now. Her soul and her body." The man spoke.

Suou was in a state of desperation and fear while reaching out toward his wife who didn't once look back at him. The man was cackling and the two faded away. Suou desperately calls out to her until there was no sign of them anymore.

(End of Nightmare)

Suou could be seen lying on his bed, his entire body covered in sweat. He's mumbling in his sleep, "no, don't take my wife's soul!" He cries.

Suou jerks up into a sitting position, his expression was sad and filled with concern. If he had a nightmare like that, it meant he was troubled by how his wife's soul was being treated.

To think that he was just now thinking about it. Suou slid out of bed and turned up his nose at his sweat covered sheet. Not only that, his body felt uncomfortable from it being soaked and sticky. He made his way to the bathroom to take a shower, even though it was barely the next morning.

So much had happened to him that he didn't have time to think about his wife. The fact that she made a request only for it to cost her soul, he wondered if it's a bad thing. If he could only meet that man and ask him. He'd feel a whole lot better knowing his wife's state. He wished to know whether or not she went to heaven, or was pulled into hell as that guy's slave or something.

Suou left the bathroom after taking a shower. It's a good thing that there was an extra sheet. He remade his bed and climbed into it. He hoped he didn't have that crazy dream again. But when Suou closed his eyes only for a moment, he seemed to have drifted into another dream.

A much different one from before.

Instead of a dark empty space, he stood in what looked like a endless realm of sky and ground. The ground was covered in colorful flowers and standing in the middle of all that was his wife who wore a white sleeveless dress and white sun hat that matched.

He thought to approach her but a figure in all black was suddenly blocking his way. Suou recognized the man immediately upon seeing him. A visual came into mind, he thought of the version of the man he saw in his earlier dream. Will he take his wife away from him again?

"Don't look so alarmed." The man says.

Suou decided to ignore him and looked passed him to his wife, "Honey! Honey!" He called out to her but for some reason she didn't seem to hear him, let alone see him.

"Why? Why can't she hear me?" Suou asked, though he was asking the air this, not the man.

"Oh, that? That is because you are invisible to her. I had to pull some strings to bring you here you know." The man explains with a shake of his head.

Suou froze, "wait, you brought me here? I'm not dreaming?" He asked.

The man gave him a mysterious expression that he could not read, "it's more or less a dream. But also reality." He says.

"Why the hell are you speaking in riddles?!" Suou asked, annoyed.

"If you want a clear answer then this place is what we call the spirit realm. It's a place between heaven and hell." He says.

"I thought Earth was between heaven or hell?" Suou wondered aloud.

"It is. but so is the spirit realm. It's another plane but it is still in between. In order for a live person to enter a spirit realm, they have to be in a state of sleep." The man explains.

So, it becomes a dream but not a dream? To think he would find himself in a place no one on Earth would expect existed. "Why did you bring me here?" Suou asked.

The man stepped to the side and pointed toward his wife, that's when he noticed other people gathering as if they appeared by magic. "It's because I have been keeping watch. In order to appease your mind, I thought I should show you how you're wife's soul was doing." he answered.

"Wait, that's her soul, not her spirit?" Suou asked.

"No, that is her spirit. This is her soul." The man made a gesture and a long wooden staff appeared in his hand.

He made another grand gesture and a bunch of balls of different colored orbs were seen floating above the man's staff. It was like looking at a rainbow.

"How can a spirit be active without their soul? Wouldn't they be mindless ghosts who are depressed and sad?" Suou asked.

"That's a baseless rumor humans told to entertain themselves. Spirits without souls are free to roam the spirit world. I guess if you look at it in my term, I can extract souls without them losing their happiness." He says.

Meaning, its not a baseless rumor, its just he's built different. At least he knew his wife was being well taken care of. He still didn't understand what kind of God this man was, but he seemed to no be so bad.

"By the way, you got some interesting things going on. I have to say, I'm impressed with how you managed to find loopholes in your contract." The man says.

Suou pretended he didn't understand, "can I go back now?" He asked.

"You're quite something else. Alright, I'll send you back. But let me tell you a little something about that gambler guy you have by your side. He'll work better if you brought him to the organization. I can say that despite the reason he's helping you, that he can be trusted." the man points out.

Suou had not really gave Shi fang a job, "what about Yu Ru, if Shi Fang wasn't around I would not be able to talk to him." He says.

"He can talk. I'll only tell you this much, the rest you have to learn about on your own. Since its more fun that way." The man snaps his finger and again Suou is seen sitting up in his bed.

It felt like a dream, but at the same time he knew it happened for real. Not only that, the sun was out. No wonder that God said it was like a dream. He'll have to go back to Earth first, some things needed to be answered and some needed to be taken care of.

Suou climbed out of bed and took another shower. After getting fully dressed he called for the portal to Earth. Even though he was on a business trip, he though he should take care of this now, or he would forget.

Yu Ru was already at the computer, while Shi Fang was at the stove. Now that he thinks about it, he really didn't fully trust him. It's not like he trusted Yu Ru either, but for some reason he felt that Shi Fang had an ulterior motive behind his kindness.

"Boss, you've returned already?" Shi Fang asked.

Suou nods and glanced over at Yu Ru who seemed focused. Suou will take care of him in a bit, first he should talk with Shi Fang. If that God says he can be trusted then there's not much else to think about.

"Can we talk?" Suou asked him.

Shi Fang stopped what he was doing and joined him at the kitchen table, "is everything okay, boss?" He asked.

"Yes, as a matter of fact I had an enlightenment. I bet you were wondering why you haven't really had a job to do. I'll be honest, it's because I didn't trust you completely." He told him.

Shi Fang didn't seem surprised by what he said, "I had expected as much." He says instead.

"I see. So I was obvious. I wanted to make myself clear. Not that I trust you, I decided to hire you as an employee at the World God Organization." Suou told him.

"Wait, for real?" Shi Fang looked shocked by this.

"Yeah, I could use your financial support and skills. If we want to make the organization even better then its best if we are rich. Because we may need that money to make worlds." Suou says.

"I didn't expect this turn of events. I'm honored to receive such a job. Does this mean I'm not living on Earth anymore?" He asked.

"That's right." Suou says.

Shi Fang glanced over at Yu Ru, "will that really be okay? What about Yu Ru?" He asked.

"I'll talk to him. It appears he's hiding a big secret from us and I won't let it stand. If he wants to work for me, I must know everything." Suou answered.

"Well, if you say so, Boss." Shi Fang agrees.
