Chapter 7: Chapter 6: Train to Busan(Part 2)

I stood in the chaos, still waiting for the kid and his dad to arrive. At last, I saw them running toward me—the workaholic with his child in his arms. Realizing it was the end of the line, and with zombies closing in, I started running towards the Ma Dong-seok compartment. As I approached, I saw another infected individual about to grab a girl. Acting quickly, I barreled into the infected, the force of my collision sending it crashing to the ground.

"Go!" I shouted urgently, my voice cutting through the chaos. I gestured toward the next compartment. "Get in quickly!"

The girl, still trembling, bolted toward the safety of the next compartment. I then turned my attention back to the zombie. Acting swiftly, I shed my black blazer and threw it over the zombie's head. The fabric momentarily blinded and disoriented the creature, causing it to stumble and fall.

With a quick glance over my shoulder, I saw the father and child making their way past me and into the next compartment. Noticing them, I left the zombie and sprinted towards the compartment door. As I reached it, I saw Ma Dong-seok standing there, his expression full of confusion. Without hesitation, I grabbed Ma Dong-seok's arm and pulled him inside, saying, "Come on, it's not the time to just stare!"

Once inside the compartment, I slammed the door shut and fumbled with the lock, securing it. The sound of the infected pounding against the door was deafening, but we were now temporarily safe. I turned to face the group of passengers inside, their faces a mix of fear and bewilderment.

After entering the compartment, I quickly closed and locked the door. Looking at the people inside, I gave them a stern warning.

"No one opens this door—not for anyone. Everyone on the other side is dead," I said firmly. I could see the panic in their eyes, the raw edge of their terror.

I knew this was only the beginning. The compartment was secure for now, but the situation was far from over. I had to think quickly and strategically to ensure their survival as we moved forward in this nightmare.

With that, I quickly moved towards the other compartment. It was packed with people. I went to the end of the compartment and saw that it was the last one. After taking a sigh of relief, I returned to the previous compartment and noticed that newspapers were covering the glass of the door.

"Good job, whoever did this," I thought.

Now, with one problem solved, I needed to tackle another. "Gather everyone here!" I ordered. Some people moved closer, while others stayed where they were. Before I could say anything else, someone interrupted me.

"Hey, do you know what's happening?"

"I don't know," I replied, "but they're acting like zombies infected by other zombies. First thing's first: I want everyone to form pairs and inspect each other for bite marks."

Panic spread among the crowd, and for good reason. I raised my voice, "Shut the fuck up! If you don't want to be quiet, just pick someone and start inspecting each other. I'll be back after checking the other compartment."

Once everyone began forming pairs, I moved to the next compartment to give the same instructions. After managing everything, I saw people starting to watch the news broadcast on the train's screens. The outbreak was happening worldwide, and the passengers were horrified.

One of the passengers looked at me, hope in her eyes. "What should we do now?"

I shrugged. "Let's think about the situation at hand first. We know that if they"—I pointed at the door keeping the zombies out—"don't see us, they won't attack us. I don't know if sound is an issue, but it probably is. The extraction location is the next station—Daejeon Station. The problem is, is that station safe?"

From what I remembered, people going through the station were attacked by hordes of zombies, and only some survived. I knew that to get the best rating, I should try to save as many people as possible. The maximum number of people someone had saved was five, which got an A rating. Getting an S rating required killing zombies too. No one knew if it was possible to achieve more than an S rating, but since I knew the plot, I aimed for it.

I recalled that when the cooperative slaves took a different path for safety, there were soldiers there. If I could get a gun from them, it would help me kill more zombies and potentially save more lives. I hoped it had a silencer.

As the train rattled along its tracks, I remained vigilant. The chaos from earlier had settled into a tense, uneasy calm. The train approached Daejeon Station, but the station itself was eerily quiet and completely empty. There were many blood splashes marking the ground and walls all over the empty station.

According to the strategy guide for the 1st floor of the tower, the recommended and easiest approach was to let everyone disembark from the train while I stayed behind. The guide suggested that after 15-20 minutes, some of the surviving people would return to the train seeking refuge, as the station would be overrun with zombies. The strategy was designed to ensure my safety by avoiding confrontation with the zombies.

Following this strategy, the guide indicated that 10 people could potentially survive inside the train. However, as we traveled further towards Busan, this number was expected to dwindle significantly due to the increasing zombie hordes and the harsh conditions outside.

Despite this advice, I was determined to achieve a higher rating. I knew that simply sticking to the strategy would not be enough to stand out. To earn a top rating, I needed to take additional risks. This meant getting off the train, navigating through the empty station, and retrieving a gun that could be crucial for saving myself and more lives.

My objective was clear: navigate the station, retrieve the gun, and return to the train as soon as possible.
