Chapter 3: I'm Always Serious, Whether in Public or Private

Kouji is currently wearing a white suit, black shirt and white tie while tears that are currently threatening to fall could be seen covering his eyes. His head was bowed a little with his teeth biting his lower lip as if to showcase the overflowing feeling of regret and rejection that fills his heart and soul.
There was a man laying down in front of him, with eyes closed.
"Why'd you have to leave... Weren't you once a mighty warrior in the war? Weren't you heralded by everyone as one of the key characters in its conclusion... So then, WHY? Why did you leave me...
Gintoki..."
"I'M NOT DEAD YET!!!", The corpse of Gintoki suddenly sprung to life as it did an amazing recovery from the ground followed by a backwards roll away from Kouji, "Also, why the heck are you wearing white if you were doing my funeral?!?!??!"
Kouji then pulled up a sign with a number 10 from who knows where while having the eyes of a critic, "TRULY A POWERFUL COMEBACK FROM A ONCE RENOWNED MC! What can you say about that solid retort, quick recovery, swift roll combo Ms. Jane"
Kouji pulls up a mic from again, who know where and points it at Ms Jane
Ms Jane replies, "I'm not Jane, I'm Shimura Tae"
Kouji puts up a thinking expression then points the mic to Shin-chan, "What about you, Glasses-kun"
"Oi! Is that really all you see from me?!?!? And, my name is Shimura Shinpachi!", Shin-chan replies
"Tsk, the Shimura Family huh... Were you sent by Danzo to steal my eye?!?!!?", out of nowhere, Kouji's naturally red eyes started to grow three tomoes resembling that of a certain dojutsu from that certain ninja show
"HELL NO!!! What do you think our family is?!!?!?", Shinpachi defends
"Tsk, are you going to take even the last remnant of my friend?" Gintoki suddenly enters the conversation while covering one of his eyes and acting like a certain copy ninja
"ARE YOU GUYS EVER SERIOUS?!!?!?", at this point you probably know who most of the retorts are coming from
Suddenly they felt the room temperature drop by a few notch and a large pressure exerted by someone from their backs with a creepy voice saying, "Boys~~"
The three turn around to find Otae with a smile that was definitely not the happy kind
Kouji takes a gulp, puts his left hand near his head's temple and look to Gintoki, "Gin, this power level is..."
Gin also looks over to Kouji and nods, "Yeah no doubt about it..."
They then turn to Otae at the same time and shout, "IT'S OVER 9000!!!"
"YOU TWO!!!", Shinpachi rages

Gintoki and Shinpachi can both be seen with a huge bump on their heads meanwhile a damage-free Kouji is sitting just outside the sliding door and facing away from them while sipping tea
"Why is it that you're the only one without a bump?" Gintoki complains
"It's because I'm an S and not an M", Kouji states plainly
"I'm also an S, yet why did I suffer?!?!?!", Gintoki is nearly crying
Seeing that the conversation will just wander away if he lets these two take the lead, Shinpachi suggests, "Can we just get serious now?"
"Serious?", Kouji quickly states with a glint in his eyes while he stood up and walks slow yet loud
Unknowingly, Shinpachi moves back as Kouji approaches him till his back touches the wall and Kouji puts his face closer to him
Kouji whispers with a serious expression yet still loud enough for everyone to hear, "I'm always serious"
... Silence wafts through the area
Kouji then breaks the silence when his face breaks into a devious smile that was screaming 'I got ya' and then finding a seat beside Gintoki
"So, what exactly did you bring us here for?", Gintoki calmly asks the siblings
"Well you should know that the reason Shin-chan here lost his job was because you two decided to cause trouble by thinking it was a good idea to beat the cafe manager and the Amanto customer", Otae says with a face that shows how this was just the calm before the storm
Yet before the storm had even struck, she was cut off rudely by Kouji, "You should know that Crayon Shin-chan here was already being treated wrongly by his manager before we even did anything, not to mention that the Leotard Amantos there were also bullying your little brother"
"That's right! They also dared to spill my precious parfait! Don't you know that I can only buy a few of those a day?!?!?", Gintoki supports but everyone can tell that his aggression was mainly done because of sweets
Shinpachi's expression became grave while he slowly turned from staring at the floor for a few seconds to staring at his sister's reaction
Otae pause for a bit before saying, "Well, I kinda already expected something like this to happen but there's a reason why we must work hard at earning money"
She proceeds to tell a story about how this Dojo has a special attachment to their heart because it was established by their father. Nowadays, it is hard to maintain a dojo because of the sword ban. After all, why study to use something that you're gonna get caught for? Therefore, they have to earn more money in order to keep the dojo that their father has left for them
Shinpachi suddenly questions why they're even continuing to run the dojo it doesn't even bring them anything good but Otae merely responds saying that a child doesn't need a reason to protect something their parents loved.
Gintoki watches this with an unchanging expression meanwhile Kouji has already unknowingly went back to his previous seat just outside the sliding door, finishing the tea that he had left with his gaze pointing towards the birds flying in the sky.
The sibling's conversation was rudely interrupted when Loan Shark Amantos come in demanding that they pay the debt that their father owed. They did not have any money therefore the Amanto started demanding their property namely, the dojo.
When the man begins to start insulting their father, Otae could not hold herself back so she punched the alien man who calls his bodyguards to restrain the Shimura siblings. When the alien man tries to punch her, the stationary Gin suddenly moved and stops him.
The alien man compromises and tells Otae that she can pay the debt with her body by entering his illegal flying high-leg nightclub. Otae agrees, much to Shinpachi's shock.
"It may be painful to keep running the dojo but it is also painful to let it go. If I'm gonna be hurt either way, then I might as well protect what our father loved", With those words, Otae left
Yet despite all of this, Kouji was still sitting on his futon outside, calmly sipping the tea as it just now became empty.
