Chapter 112: The 4th Hokage Minato Namikaze!
The next day, the village had multiple notices that Hiruzen Sarutobi had left his position as Hokage and that Minato Namikaze had been chosen as the 4th Hokage.
Everyone was excited that Minato was appointed the Hokage.
But surprisingly, Kakashi wasn't as excited, he sat on a bench all alone reading a book.
He didn't know about the news...
"Hey, Kakashi!" Guy found him, he ran to him and snatched the book he was reading.
"How a shinobi should die? What is this?"
"Give it back!" Kakashi said as he snatched it back.
Kakashi's unusual reaction surprised guy.
"What's going on?" Kakashi asked.
"Oh right, the identity of the fourth Hokage has been announced, now don't act surprised, it's gonna be… Minato-sensei!"
Kakashi's eyes widened.
Later, Ryuu escorted Kakashi to the Konoha cemetery as he dropped off some flowers for Obito.
"Obito, it looks like Minato-sensei is going to be the Hokage, he'll be the successor to the professor, he'll change the hidden leaf, the whole shinobi world, there won't have to be any more sacrifices like yours."
"Kakashi?" He froze as he recognized that voice.
He slowly turned around, shivering, to see a familiar face.
"Rin."
"I'm sorry…" She hugged him with tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry I made you feel this way, it's not your fault."
"No, I'm the one who almost killed you, it was my fault, all of it." She shook her head.
"I'm the one who allowed myself to be captured.
But I'm not here for that, I came to say I'm sorry that I'm causing you such pain." Ryuu smiled seeing them.
"Guys, come on, we're going to be late for big brother's announcement."
Ryuu took them and teleported near the Hokage's office.
Hiruzen, Koharu, and Hamura stood together as Hiruzen gave Minato the hat of the Hokage.
He wore a white short sleeve haori with flames coming from the bottom and Fourth Hokage written vertically behind him.
Kushina, Ryuu, and many other Jonins stood behind Minato as they gave him the title of the "4th Hokage"
"I'm counting on you, fourth Hokage," Hiruzen said as he gave him the hat.
He nodded.
"I pledge my life to it."
Everyone cheered and celebrated once they saw him.
After the celebrations, Minato called Ryuu to his new office.
"Well, look at you, Hokage-sama, did you call me here to show off your new office?"
Minato smiled and scratched his head shyly.
"No, I have a mission for you and Kakashi." Ryuu's eyes widened.
"You're sending him on a mission already?" He nodded.
"Only because you'll be with him, I know I can trust you to help him out if he needs it." Ryuu nodded.
He teleported to Kakashi, who was in the training grounds, he had activated the Chidori but didn't use it.
"Kakashi, we have a mission, let's go." Kakashi nodded, Ryuu took him and teleported to Minato's office.
"I want you two to retrieve documents related to the peace treaty."
They nodded.
"Among the shinobi, there are still some empowered who desire war.
They have stolen the missing documents, they're intent on showing discord, you need to be your best on this mission, that's why I brought Ryuu." He nodded.
"Yes sir." Ryuu and Kakashi left the office and headed out.
They ran using lightning chakra mode, and Ryuu had to slow down for Kakashi.
"Kakashi, enemies are coming, be ready." Kakashi nodded and removed his forehead protector from his eye, revealing the Sharingan.
"Multi-Shadow clone jutsu!" The enemy made multiple clones of himself.
Kakashi made some hand signs.
"I'll wrap this up.
Chidori!" The chilling sound from the jutsu echoed through the forest.
He froze and his Chidori lost power; the enemy noticed this and didn't waste time, then attacked Kakashi.
He ran around with his clones to confuse then when Kakashi noticed it he stopped running.
"Die!" The enemy launched an attack.
"Phoenix spikes!" Ryuu used Phoenix Flame to make giant spikes that surrounded him and Kakashi and killed the enemy and his clones.
"Kakashi, snap out of it and focus!"
"Huh, sorry…" He fell to his knee and began panting, Ryuu caught him and took him back to the hospital.
"Good thing I sent you to back him up, the mission was a success." Ryuu nodded, he was with Minato in the office.
"Let's go see how he's doing." Minato nodded.
They left the office and went to visit Kakashi; he was laying in bed reading a book.
Minato and Ryuu entered through the open window.
"Minato-sensei! Ryuu? I mean Hokage-sama."
Ryuu chuckled.
"It's rare to see you acting so nervously, did Jiraiya-sensei give you that book?"
Kakashi hid the book behind him.
"You may address me how you always have Kakashi, even Ryuu," Minato said, with a smile.
"Alright, Hokage-sama."
Ryuu chuckled after mocking Minato.
"You know, there are some people in the village who think I'm not qualified for this position and oppose me.
I came here today because I want to assign you to the Anbu, under my direct control." Kakashi's eyes widened.
"But, why me?"
"I want you to be my right-hand man, Kakashi."
"But what about me?" Ryuu asked.
Minato smiled.
"Of course, where ever one of you goes, the other will follow, isn't that right?"
Ryuu and Kakashi looked at each other, then nodded.
"Well then, it's settled, I have to go back to my office, being Hokage is a lot of work."
Ryuu nodded.
"Already giving up on your dream job?" Minato shook his head.
"Impossible, Kushina would kill me if I was that weak."
Ryuu smiled, Imagining Minato beaten to a pulp as he tried explaining how hard the job is.
Ryuu and Kakashi left to go get their uniforms and masks.
Kakashi threw away his book in the bin, and Ryuu set it on fire.
They registered, then waited for a while, then an Anbu member came with the equipment.
"Here's a set of equipment for you."
He said as he slid them under the cage.
A Katana, a mask, and their uniform were packed inside the small box.
"Thank you." They said.
They went to change into their uniform and then put their Katana's on their back.
Both Kakashi and Ryuu looked at themselves in the mirror as they put their masks on.
The crimson color of their Sharingan shined through the eyes of the mask, and they were ready to begin their careers as Anbu members…
