Chapter 160: Tenzo (Final Part)
Ryuu took Kakashi and Kinoe near the village.
"Kakashi, let's go talk to dad about letting Kinoe out of the foundation."
Kakashi nodded.
"Stay here, don't confront Danzo alone. You aren't that powerful." Ryuu said to him as he teleported with Kakashi.
Sakumo sat down and was signing some documents.
Kinoe had gone back to the foundation's headquarters while Ryuu and Kakashi went to Sakumo's office.
"We're back from our mission."
"Find anything?" Ryuu nodded.
"We need a favor from you."
Sakumo looked at Ryuu and Kakashi, they were still kneeling with their masks on.
"You may remove your masks."
Ryuu and Kakashi removed their masks.
Sakumo placed his feet on his desk and crossed them, he put his hands behind his head in a relaxed manner.
"Do you remember when we told you about the other wood release user?" Sakumo nodded.
"The one in the foundation?"
"Yes, that one."
"What about him?"
"They had given him a mission to kill Ryuu and me, or specifically to steal one of our Sharingan," Kakashi stated.
"Knowing he would fail, Danzo sent twenty-four foundation agents to kill us all.
Send me and Kakashi to Danzo's lair, I'll get him out of the foundation peacefully."
"I see…" Sakumo removed his feet from his desk.
He took a pen and paper and wrote something.
"Ryuu, Kakashi." They looked at him.
"Take this missive to Danzo's headquarters.
It's an order from the Hokage, it summons Danzo here to speak with me immediately."
"Right." They both said.
Ryuu and Kakashi wore their masks and left.
Whoosh… Whoosh…
They flickered into the foundation's headquarters.
Meanwhile, at the foundation headquarters.
Danzo sat with Kinoe, frustrated that not only was he alive but he also failed.
"Kakashi is a shinobi from Konoha, he's a comrade from the village, isn't it wrong to kill a friend?"
"To be Frank, you should only consider the people in the foundation to be your true friends," Danzo replied.
"Friends don't attempt to kill each other."
Danzo frowned.
"A simple misunderstanding, after all, you came back to me anyway.
Proving your loyalty."
"No." Danzo raised an eyebrow.
"No?" Kinoe nodded.
"I'm leaving the foundation, Ryuu Uchiha and Kakashi Hatake are on their way here."
Danzo kept calm.
"Even if they are, what good is that? The root isn't under the jurisdiction of the Hokage, Hiruzen made sure of that when we created this foundation.
Furthermore, the only way you could ever leave the foundation is by death."
Kinoe's eyes widened.
"I'm the leader of the foundation, the missions I give you are absolute!"
Kinoe frowned.
"Are you listening Kinoe?!"
"No! Don't call me that! My name is not Kinoe!" Kinoe stood up, furiously clenching his fists.
"What? What do you mean?" Danzo was taken back by his sudden burst of anger.
"You are Kinoe of the foundation.
What other name could you have besides that one?"
"I am a shinobi of the leaf.
A shinobi, not just of the foundation, but the whole leaf and its branches.
They're all my comrades."
"Damn you…
What has made you turn on us like this?" Danzo removed his bandage and revealed his Sharingan, and put Kinoe in a genjutsu.
"Take him to the treatment room.
Bind him with the curse mark!"
"Yes, sir." A foundation member took Kinoe away.
An hour later, it was dark, Kakashi and Ryuu appeared inside the root headquarters, two foundation members guarded it.
"Hokage-sama summons Danzo, notify Danzo that he is to appear, immediately."
"Danzo-sama isn't here."
Kakashi looked at Ryuu to confirm.
Ryuu shook his head.
"You know who I am, don't you?" Ryuu asked.
"I suspect you're Ryuu Uchiha."
Ryuu nodded.
"And you know what I can do?"
They nodded.
"If you did, you wouldn't lie to me about Danzo's location.
Step aside."
They tightly gripped their spears.
Ryuu slowly removed his mask and looked at both of them, casting a genjutsu on them.
He and Kakashi walked past them while they stood there, trembling in fear.
Ryuu and Kakashi ran toward Kinoe.
He was locked up in a room, strapped to a metal table.
"Let's get you out of here." Kakashi and Ryuu freed him.
They entered lightning chakra mode and left.
A siren alerted the foundation members.
Ryuu and Kakashi stood ahead of Kinoe as the foundation members swarmed the place.
"Wind Style: vacuum bullet!" Danzo shot out two wind bullets toward Ryuu, the bullet vanished before touching him.
"How good of you to come from your side to see us here, Ryuu!
You entered foundation jurisdiction without authorization and tried to take one of our own.
Don't think you'll get off so easily."
More root members surrounded them.
"Danzo-sama, Kakashi- "Kinoe woke up and tried to explain but…
"Just shut up!
You won't be getting away with this either."
"Neither shall you." Danzo and the rest looked up, hearing that voice.
"Sakumo." He muttered.
Sakumo landed beside Danzo.
"I know you harbor a grudge against Kakashi and Ryuu.
Even so, that does not give you the power to target two of the leaf's finest shinobi."
"What are you talking about Hokage-sama? I could not care less about Kakashi or Ryuu, but they chose to enter foundation jurisdiction and went after one of our own, and that is quite serious."
"They chose?" Sakumo asked.
"What are you talking about? I sent them here with a summon from me, then to complete their assignment, they went looking for you to deliver that message.
All on my orders."
Danzo frowned.
"There could have been a fight here, yet you came alone without backup."
Sakumo nodded.
"Ryuu is all the backup I need.
He is worth an entire colony of shinobi."
Danzo glared at Ryuu, who had a smirk on his face.
Danzo frustratedly took a deep breath.
"It seems there has been a miscommunication, this is the first I've heard of that."
"That settles things with Ryuu and Kakashi, however, regarding this next issue that I sent for you.
It is another exceptional shinobi of this village."
Sakumo walked towards Kinoe.
"You're aware that a wood release user had been sought by the village for years now.
Lord third even authorized questionable experiments to get that power."
Danzo nodded.
"I know about the wood-style user, but I'm having trouble finding why you would even hide him from the leaf, keeping him restricted to the foundation."
"I was the one who found him, I protected him and raised him too.
I wasn't hiding him from anyone, I just didn't see the reason I should've reported it to you, after all, the leaf already has 2 wood-style users."
"Listen well, Danzo, the Jinchuriki child has now entered his fourth year, wood style sealing jutsu is becoming more crucial to the village.
Ryuu Uchiha and Ichika Senju won't always be in the village, that is a fact that you and I know.
Knowing that, I ask you to entrust this wood-style user to the Anbu, under my direct control."
"I can't." Danzo stubbornly replied.
"I know he is valuable to you.
Should you refuse this offer, I'm afraid things will get out of hand."
Danzo frustratedly glanced at Ryuu.
"Tch!" Danzo clicked and looked back at Sakumo.
"Members of the foundation bear a curse mark so they don't reveal secret intel. I will not remove it from him."
"That's alright with me."
"Very well then."
"You're in my care now, so from now on you will be under my direct orders."
Ryuu and Kakashi tapped him on his shoulders.
"Um, sir?"
Kinoe walked towards Danzo.
"Thank you for everything."
He bowed respectfully.
Ryuu placed a seal on Kinoe and teleported him with Sakumo and Kakashi.
The next day, Kinoe was starting his first day as a leaf Anbu.
He looked around and saw many unfamiliar faces, most wore masks and in the middle, he found Ryuu and Kakashi with many other Anbu changing and preparing.
"Uh, hello. My name's Kinoe. I just transferred here from the foundation."
Kinoe announced from the entrance.
"Oh, hey there Tenzo." Kakashi greeted him first.
"Tenzo?"
"Kinoe is your foundation name, in the Anbu, you should go by Tenzo."
"But that name is kinda…"
Ryuu smiled.
"Wasn't there a time you called yourself Tenzo? I don't remember you complaining when I called you Tenzo, you know?
Alright, everyone, this is Tenzo, he's the new guy.
Kakashi and I can vouch for his skill."
Tenzo got escorted by another man through the room.
"So I'm Tenzo now?" Ryuu and Kakashi nodded.
"You'll be on our team, Team RO, we're counting on you." Ryuu and Kakashi stated.
"OK, yes sir."
Tenzo bowed.
"Hey." Ryuu gestured for him to come closer.
Tenzo did as instructed and walked closer to Ryuu.
"Open your mouth."
"Huh?!" Tenzo's eyes widened.
"Just do it, it's for your good." Tenzo looked at Kakashi, and Kakashi nodded, showing it was alright.
Tenzo opened his mouth.
Ryuu looked at the seal on his tongue.
He formed a hand sign.
"Curse mark erasing seal."
The curse mark faded away.
"The only secrets you should keep in our team are the secrets we tell you to keep."
Tenzo closed his mouth and nodded.
