Chapter 65: Ryuu vs Kushina! A Sparring Match!
"Well then, congratulations to those who fought and won the earlier fights!"
As we were celebrating, The Hokage walked forward towards us.
"As I mentioned earlier, your next and final fights will be in front of everyone, each of you represents the battle strengths of the land of fire, and from what I've seen today, there are many respectable and skilled shinobi among yourselves, of course, there are those of you who stand out more than others." He looked at Ryuu.
"But anyway, the finals will begin one month from now! This gives you time to prepare, it gives you enough time to see where your weaknesses lie judging from your results in the preliminary, it also gives you time to use your opponent's weaknesses against them from what you've seen here, it gives each of you an advantage to see where your opponent's weakness lies and to use it as an advantage to increase the chance of victory.
During the preliminaries you fought your opponents without knowledge of what they are capable of, however, the finals are a different league, you might have already exposed your weaknesses and strengths or sustained severe injuries so this break is there for you to recover and also train harder, I am now dismissing you I don't want to keep you here."
"Geez, did he have to speak for that long?" Ryuu asked himself.
"Oh, before I leave, there's one more thing to do."
Ryuu held his head in frustration,
"Quite a display of skills in the match Ryuu-Kun," Orochimaru said.
"Those of you who are still here, there are slips of paper that Orochimaru will hand out, everyone is to pick one I would have you line up, but you're too little."
Ryuu took him, and the number that was written was.
"3"
"I see…" Guy said.
"What's wrong Guy?" Kakashi asked as he read his.
"I'll be fighting Ryuu first." He said, I saw him shaking a little,
"I didn't think it was possible, could he be sacred?"
Ryuu asked.
Guy jumped up in the air.
"I can feel it in the air, the tension, the excitement, and the thrill of the power of youth! Ryuu! We will burn the stage down and shower the audience with our hot and burning power of youth!"
Ryuu just scratched the back of his head.
"Sure."
He then remembered something.
"Wait, doesn't that mean…" Kakashi nodded.
"I'm fighting Kakashi first!" Obito said.
He had a determined look on his face, even Kakashi did, he tried to hide it but I can tell; he acknowledged Obito.
"This is more like a tournament, so does that mean there's only one winner?" Kakashi asked.
"No, for the finals, many judges will observe you, not only me but the rulers and shinobi leaders from other countries that will request missions as well.
Based on your performance in the finals, those judges will see who will have enough ability to become a chunin,"
"Does that mean that everyone can become a chunin?" Kakashi asked.
"Even those who were disqualified in the first round can become chunin, however, it's also possible that none of you will have what it takes to become a chunin, does that answer your question?" he nodded.
"Well then, it's better not to waste time here, so I'm dismissing all of you until one month from now."
Nearly all the Jonins that were there disappeared and so did the Hokage.
"Ryuu-Kun, you've become powerful now, you took down that Uchiha with ease, and brutally too, hmph, it's fair to say that was the most entertaining fight so far, I look forward to seeing more of your fights,"
Orochimaru said and Ryuu nodded.
"He kind of had it coming." he nodded.
"Well, it's time for some training, right Ryuu?" Obito asked.
"Obito you're such an idiot, if you train with Ryuu, he'll just know all your moves and use that against you, well, that's the case if you somehow beat me."
He folded his fist.
"Not necessarily, I can only train with him for a little while, but later on he can train by himself and hone those skills."
Obito smiled, "What he said!" Kakashi's face palmed.
"You know, if you keep on treating him like that, hell never grows and will remain in your shadow."
Ryuu sighed and teleported with them all, he dropped them all at their houses while he went to meet up with Minato.
On the way there, my breath felt heavy.
"Cough!" Ryuu coughed out ash mixed with blood
"Not this again, what's wrong with me, maybe I should go see Tsunade-chan after this, I'm sure she'd be happy to see me," Ryuu said.
Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, I felt an itch right above my eye.
"Now what?"
Ryuu scratched his eye.
"Ouch!" He said in pain. I stopped scratching myself and checked my eyes. I could feel something wet in my eye.
"Am I bleeding?" He said as he wiped his eyes and scratched his eyes.
"What's happening?" He asked.
I teleported back home to look in the mirror.
"What's happened to my face?!"
My eyes had become a little scaly and my eye color changed, my entire eye changed, it looked like inside was a flame burning and my teeth were sharper.
"Is this a genjutsu?"
Ryuu attempted to release the Genjutsu, but nothing happened.
"I can't worry about this right now." Ryuu teleported to Kakashi's room, grabbed one of his spare masks, and teleported to Minato.
"I see you got through!" I nodded.
"Just as expected, sorry I had to leave early, Kushina needed me for something but unfortunately that lead to me missing your match, but I heard some stories of how quickly it ended, also how gruesome it was." Ryuu let out a small chuckle.
"Anyway, you remember when I told you I found someone else you can train with?" I nodded.
"Yeah, I'm curious who were you talking about?"
He teleported away.
"Great, where could he be going now?"
He came back with Kushina in his arms and a bruised face.
"Ryuu, she's going to be your temporary sensei, I know already that she gave you some sealing techniques and after discussing with her, about this I'm prepared to teach you a new technique."
Ryuu rolled his eyes.
"She beat you to do this right?" he nodded, and she nervously laughed.
"I tried telling him you were prepared for this but he kept on refusing, I saw he would not listen to me and insisted that he shows you this."
Minato was sweating.
"You call that insisting?" he said in a low voice.
"What did you say!?" Kushina's hair started floating and her eyes were glowing red.
"Let's calm down a bit, right big sis? Besides, I thought this was about teaching me a new technique."
She calmed down as Ryuu spoke.
"Right! The Uzumaki clan created this technique, and we gifted it to Konoha as a sign of peace, of course, we had many other powerful Fuinjutsu but this one is also great it's called Reaper death seal!"
Ryuu widened his eyes.
"What's wrong? You haven't even heard what it does and you already look scared or have you somehow seen this jutsu?" she asked.
"No-no-no, I haven't seen it performed before but I've read it in my book." she nodded.
"Excellent! So I don't have to waste time explaining the boring rules to you, right?" I nodded.
She gave me a scroll.
"Inside there, are the hand signs for the reaper death seal, I'm sure you're smart enough to know not to use it, it's very dangerous, anyway keep it safe somewhere, come to me after you've done that, ill be in the forest of death."
Ryuu sulked, "That place again huh?" he asked himself.
He sealed the scroll he was given and teleported to Kushina, he quickly took her to the forest of death, his seal was still there so he just teleported there.
"Now that we're here, our training begins, do your best or you could get hurt," she said
Ryuu felt drops of sweat on his forehead.
"Relax a little, it's our first day of training. It's not like it's life or death, right?" he asked, looking behind he saw red chakra forming around Kushina.
"W-w-what is this?"
"A spar!" her voice had changed and was slightly deeper than before.
Ryuu activated his Sharingan, he tried to take his sword out, but she was too fast and kicked him, causing him to fly back hitting the trees and breaking a few bones, he used Phoenix flame on himself and healed himself.
"Geez, two tails in a sparring match, I have to get serious, or ill lose this fight."
He said as he got up.
"Fire style: majestic destroyer flame!" he shot out a large fire that quickly caught to the surrounding trees.
Boom! it sent Ryuu flying after Kushina punched him, knocking him so far back and making him a little dazed.
"Geez, you didn't have to hit me that hard, I still have to make it to the chunin exams."
Ryuu entered Phoenix flame mode, his fire covered his whole body up in gold flames and suddenly Kushina stopped pursuing him, her pupils became slit and she grew whiskers on her face.
"Kurama?" he nodded.
"Is that the flame that Kushina was talking about?" I nodded.
"Yeah, it's called Phoenix Flame, cool right?" he didn't respond, he just went back and Kushina was in control again.
Whoosh!
She disappeared and reappeared in front of me.
She tried attacking me but I saw it coming and quickly teleported away and back then delivered a kick to her ribs, sending her flying away; I didn't waste any time and teleported to her, activated lightning chakra mode, and hit her with a flying lotus kick, sending her flying away.
"Hmph, that should do the trick," he said.
She was in a cloud of dust and nearly knocked out, but she stood up and 3 more tails grew behind her.
"Uh oh, I have to use it now." Ryuu activated Sage mode and kept his Sharingan on.
He disappeared from where he was and teleported in front of Kushina.
"Fire style fireball jutsu!" he made a large fireball, and it hit Kushina she couldn't dodge it, it was too big and fast.
Boom!
It left a tremendous explosion when it hit her.
"Grrrr!"
"She's growling!"
Ryuu knew he was in trouble, he saw her grow one more tail, she now had six tails!
"Sorry about this big sis!" he said.
"Kurama, I hope your 6 tail form is strong enough to survive this jutsu, I haven't tested it out, but I can feel its power," he said to himself.
