Chapter 59: Bell test with Minato
2 weeks later…
"Kakashi, wake up!" Ryuu shook Kakashi until he woke up.
"Why can't I ever enjoy my sleep when you're around?" He said as he got up.
"We're starting the Chunin exams today, aren't you excited?" He nodded.
"But why do you have to wake me up this early?"
"Training, of course, if you're serious about becoming a chunin, we'll both have to train much harder than before and I can't wait till I show you a new S-rank jutsu I made."
"You made an S-rank ninjutsu?" I nodded.
"It's so deadly, I was told never to use it when I'm around people and only to use it if I'm surrounded by multiple enemies."
Kakashi's eyes widened.
"Well now, you have to show me, you've already made me this excited, so it's too late, plus you woke me up, so this is payback."
Ryuu dropped his head and depressingly said, "But that's not how this works."
After having breakfast we went straight to the training grounds, the first part of the chunin exams doesn't start until 3 hours later.
"Alright, we're here, now show me that new jutsu you were talking about."
Kakashi said.
"I can't, things will get messy fast."
"Is it that powerful?" Ryuu nodded.
"Hey Ryuu, I couldn't help but overhear that you guys were talking about a powerful new jutsu. Is it the one that Jiraiya-sensei spoke about?"
Minato teleported out of nowhere and asked.
I nodded.
"The way he described it, it's best we don't use it here." I nodded.
"While we're on the topic, I have made little progress with my jutsu, it's supposed to resemble that tailed beast bomb we saw when we fought Roshi in our previous mission together that's when I came up with the idea, this jutsu doesn't use hand signs at all it focuses on shape transformation and advanced chakra control, but I'm stuck on the first step."
He grabbed a balloon from his pocket and filled it with water.
He put the balloon on his palm and drew chakra to it; the balloon started reacting to it and it started moving and stretching, then after that it popped.
"Unfortunately, this is about as far as I go, and it's only because there's water inside the balloon to help me pop it."
I teleported to a shop nearby and bought multiple rubber balls, then I teleported back.
"Catch." He threw a rubber ball and Minato caught it.
"What's this for?"
"Isn't it obvious? You just need to constantly add more power and more chakra but a controlled level, although this part will most likely be the hardest step."
Minato's eyes widened.
"Forget all that, you're a genius!"
Ryuu smiled and nodded as Minato complimented him.
"Anyway, I wanted to welcome you back and welcome you into my team."
He said.
"So it's true," Kakashi said.
"Mmhm, As soon as Obito and Rin get here, we'll begin training for your exam."
Kakashi and Ryuu nodded.
After 10 minutes, both Obito and Rin were here.
"Ryuu?" Rin ran to me and hugged me.
"I haven't seen you in so long, what are you doing here?"
I told her I'm joining the team, and she was so excited.
"Sorry to interrupt you guys but we don't have a lot of time here, the chunin exams begin in a few hours and I need to train you as much as possible, plus now u have to decide who will not take the chunin exams because it has to be a team of 3."
They looked at each other.
"But no worries, I will settle all this by doing this one task."
He removed three bells from his pocket.
"The bell test again?" Obito asked.
"Yup but this time it isn't for you all, I'm going to be challenging Ryuu, I'll try and hold back as much as I can, but that makes things difficult because of how strong you've become.
and you'll have to get the bells from me, while you guys safely train away from here, although you can watch, just don't get in the way."
They nodded.
Ryuu was shivering.
"You're scared?" Kakashi asked.
"Hahaha" Ryuu burst out of laughter.
"No! I'm just really excited!" He said with a sinister look on his face.
"Well, this should turn out well."
Kakashi said.
After preparing themselves, Ryuu and Minato stood on opposite sides.
"Are you ready?" Ryuu nodded.
"Let's go!" He said.
They both tried teleporting to each other, but that just canceled it and made them clash with each other.
Ryuu moved back.
"Fire style Dragon flame jutsu!" He shot out multiple dragons at Minato, they followed him everywhere he teleported so he teleported behind Ryuu, but that's what he was expecting, Ryuu tailed him as soon as he appeared behind him.
He was about to get the bell, but then Minato teleported above him and tried to land a kick on him; he was burned by Ryuu's flames as soon as he got too close, but these flames were different and they didn't instantly kill the enemy but they burned fast.
Ryuu saw Minato was being burned and retracted his flames.
"I must've forgotten about that power."
"Luckily, you're not my enemy." He nodded.
"I have to get more serious now." Minato took out multiple Kunai and threw them.
'Shuriken multi shadow clone Jutsu!"
He teleported to each of them Ryuu couldn't follow what was happening even with his Sharingan, so he teleported away from there and on top of the hill.
"You've left me no choice." He said as he closed his eyes and sat down, he stored nature energy on his yin seal and used that to enter sage mode.
"I won't have time to enter sage mode, I'll have to do this without it," Minato said.
"Wind style Compression bomb!" Minato shot out a bomb of air towards Ryuu.
Once Ryuu opened his eyes he had entered Sage mode but the color of his pupil was different than normal sage mode, it mixed in with his Sharingan and was a dark crimson color, three tomoe surrounded his toad-like pupils and orange pigmentation around the eyes.
"Alright let's go." Ryuu quickly cut through the compression bomb using his blade and entered.
"I'll have to be careful using sage mode just like pa said, of I don't hold back on my moves I could hurt him or even kill him, I don't want to hurt him, just take the bells."
He said to himself.
"Multi-Shadow clone jutsu!"
Ryuu created so many clones and they surrounded the entire hill.
"Woah, Ryuu is so amazing, look at all those clones he made," Obito said, Kakashi and Rin stared in awe, they didn't even hear him.
In the blink of an eye, Ryuu teleported behind Minato and aimed his foot towards his head, Minato went to block it, but Ryuu's clones grabbed him.
"Boom!" I sent him flying by my kick, he flew into the water leaving an enormous splash.
"Sensei!" Obito tried standing up and running towards Minato but was held back by Kakashi and Rin.
"What's wrong with you guys?! He might be hurt!"
Ryuu shook his head.
"He isn't, that wasn't even him, it was a clone, the real one is right here," Ryuu said as he pointed at the hill.
He threw a kunai with an explosion tag towards the rocks. "Boom!" Minato teleported behind Ryuu.
"You saw through my moves."
He nodded.
"When I use both sage mode and Sharingan, I can see through almost anything and I can also tell when your chakra is depleting."
Ryuu exited Sage mode.
"Catch" He threw the bells back to Minato.
"He's gotten too fast, even for me, if I didn't teach him flying Raijin, I would've defeated him, but I couldn't have known about that at the time." He told himself as he caught the bells.
"Well done Ryuu, you had us fooled with that."
"Speak for yourself, Obito," Kakashi said.
"Ryuu, that was amazing, you deserve to be given the promotion to chunin, I'll wait for the next time, I wasn't even sure I would be ready."
Everyone looked at Rin as she said that.
"Rin, are you sure you want this?"
She nodded.
"Thank you, I won't forget this, and I won't let you down."
She smiled and nodded.
"I'll cheer for all of you from the stands."
Minato teleported and came back five minutes later, then we continued training together.
We spent the next few hours learning to work together.
Luckily, we've been friends for a long time and that helped.
It was finally time to begin with the first test.
It was held in a classroom.
"Wow, look at all these people here, some of them are even older than us," Obito stated.
As soon as they stepped in, everyone was staring at them, or more specifically at Ryuu, most of them were happy to see him there, but some looked at him in either fear or anger and spite.
"What's he doing here?" A tall guy pushed through everyone and stared at Ryuu.
"Hey, I'm Ryuu. Nice to meet you." He held his hand out for him.
"Are you stupid or something?" He said, as he smacked his hand.
"Why so edgy?" He asked.
The bigger guy swung his fist at Ryuu but missed, I easily dodged it.
"You shouldn't be here, this exam shouldn't allow the son of a scumbag."
Ryuu scratched his head.
"Honestly, I've been told I'm the son of a scumbag too many times that I don't even know which parent you're talking about, please clarify and I don't even know you." He got pissed.
"I'm Tazumi Uchiha, I thought you were supposed to be smart, my father knows what your father did how he betrayed the clan by marrying that red-haired bitch from that dead clan, it's no wonder they got killed, rumor is that you killed them yourself."
Ryuu folded his fist, his blood was boiling.
"What, don't tell me you're mad now? Careful people, apparently he can turn into a demon at any point, or maybe he'll betray his village and freeze up during a mission, like his new father."
"That's enough!" Two people came from behind and pulled Tazumi back.
"Sorry about our teammate, he can continuously bother people and get in your business, especially after he got his Sharingan, he acts like he's above everyone." She said as she dragged him away.
"Anyway, great to meet you." She held her hand up and Ryuu greeted her back with a smile, he squeezed a little harder than usual and his body was heating up.
"Hey! That hurts!"
He snapped out of it and when he removed his hand from hers, she had a burned mark and her skin was peeling.
"Sorry about that, here let me heal it."
He took her hand and healed it.
"There, good as new."
He smiled shyly and went back to Obito and Kakashi.
"I don't understand why didn't you just beat him up right there, he was too disrespectful to you and Kakashi," Obito said.
"He doesn't matter to me and you'll see why, I hope I fight him, I'll humiliate him and his team in front of everyone." Ryuu's Sharingan opened.
Obito had never seen Ryuu this angry, he felt a chill down his spine and quickly looked away, meanwhile Kakashi facepalmed, he was used to seeing Ryuu's outbursts occasionally.
"Just great, they shouldn't have said any of that to him, now there's no turning back, they've already crossed the line."
Kakashi said to himself.
*Poof* a huge cloud of smoke appeared and inside the smoke were multiple jonin commanders.
"Everyone shut up! The test is beginning!"
