What’s up everybody, Patriarch of the Awe Sect here 🫡🫡 I feel like I improve every time I write a new book and GA is my sixth project now, so you can expect good things. I said it before, but I certainly believe it’s the best I’ve ever written This novel was inspired by novels like Super Gene and The Lord’s Empire, taking tidbits from them that I liked and expanding them in the Spec Universe way. The system is fleshed out and unique, there will be intriguing mystery and spine tingling twists, and while this story will have kingdom building elements, it’s first and foremost an action adventure with such things merely being a backdrop. Sylas, our main character, is sharp and focused, but he isn’t stoic to the point of be unsociable or cold. He has a lot to learn, but much like with my other mcs, he’ll eventually rise to the top. Collecting Genes, breaking stat and gene limits, alien invasions and ancient civilizations… add on a sprinkle of mono-romance and you have GA. I’m looking forward to writing Sylas’ story!!

As someone who has had the pleasure of reading a number of awespec’s work I unfortunately have to say genetic ascension has been quite disapointing. The premise of improving yourself through adding ‘genes’ of other species was great. Had the story actually involved doing so it would have been much better. Modifying your genome (snake (scales? slitted eyes?), amphibian (webbed hands? skin?), or some avian creature (wings)) while attempting to maintain your humanity and avoiding bad interactions between different species would have been super interesting. Instead this story is just another add stat here genome of speed, add stat here genome of strength, add stat etc. The ability to just buy skills without a corresponding genome is similarly disapointing. Furthermore the addition of comprehensions and weird letter ratings of creatures and skills just makes the story convuluted and a mess. Additionally the author repeats the characters status WAY too much, it does not need to be repeated every chapter.

I also agree, am at chapter 600+ now and there's wayyy more info dump than then, and to make it all worse, he dosen't even seem all that powerful. I get that he is storing up potential so that his levelling up will have dramatic effects but there's just so much that a reader can take before he gets bored. His stats just seem static with all the madness this, madness that. Even at chap 600 his strength is, what, 600? or so...maybe even less. There's also one annoying thing I dont understand, bro can fuse with his contracts, so why dosent he just create a strong serpent like the arctic cobra with 1500+ strength...and then fuse with it. Does he have to fuse with the basilisk king??? with weak stats???. I cant wait for bro to level up though. You might be wondering why I still gave this novel a five star review after all these "critiques", and that is because I can almost taste the amount of effort the author put into this work. Every time I read info dump, it always seem connected with no loopholes here or there. Definitely a good read.

It's not very good, I read 800 chapters. I have no idea how this book is top 5 on Webnovel, so lets go over all the problems 1) Chapter are too short: Kinda arbitrary, and maybe it's because I've been reading on RR for the past month, but the chapters are very short. Also some of them are just status screens. I would be enraged if I spent money for a whole chapter of just status screens. 2) It's too complicated. At the beginning we are introduced to the Status screen and it is filled with like 3 different ways of leveling up. Now this might be fine later in the novel, but this is only the beginning chapters. The author claims that he took inspiration from Super Gene and The Lord's Empire. Now I haven't read much of Super Gene (only like 50 chapters), but I have read The Lord's Empire. If the author wants to implement both systems, I do not see how that is a good system. The power system of The Lord's Empire was incredibly complicated and didn't make much sense after about 500 chapters. but to add the Super Gene system on top of that? What a recipe for disaster... 3) The way the author writes. The author can't seem to figure out a way to balance the MC so he just intentionally nerfs him. Like he enters a dungeon and was incredibly successful? Sike! Everyone else was training for 3 months while he was in there for only three days, so he isn't actually that powerful. What a stupid way to balance the MC, not to mention that this happens like 3 times. The author also comes up with other ways the MC gets nerfed, some of which he walks right into. Quite concerning considering the MC is supposed to be a super genius. 4) The MC has too much stacked against him. Like I understand the MC needs some enemies, but basically the whole Universe is against him for being talented (which he actually isn't in the grand scheme of things) and he has like no allies. Not a very enticing read should I say so myself. 5) Slow progress: In order to get the best foundation, the MC hasn't used one of the ways for him to get powerful (the level system). This is incredibly frustrating. Like he has been level 0 for the whole novel (we are at 800 chapters btw). I would honestly call this bad design on the author's part. I'm positive he could've tweaked the already too complicated and confusing power system just a bit to allow him to level up. It's boring to see the MC at level 0 fighting people and monsters 30-50 levels above him. In conclusion, this novel is not very good. The power system is too complicated, the MC is constantly getting nerfed, and he has the most impossible odds I have ever seen stacked against him. Kinda weird considering everyone on Earth started at the same time. Anyways do not waste your time on this novel. 1/5

Reading this feels like peeking into the diary of a self-reflective PhD student in the midst of completing their thesis. Super interesting story, and the writing quality IS good, but unless it's a research paper, a scientists biography, or a philosophy book, reading chapters full of overdone pseudo-intellectual inner monologue is a bit of an effort to read. Its advanced writing, sure. But the main characters advanced level intelligence and his subsequent thoughts can be simplified a little for the sake of an easy reading experience that doesn’t break immersion so often when he points out that a word in a system notification is capitalised instead of lowercase. His ability to recognise patterns and discern situations is commendable and so cool yes, but you wouldn’t see him find the answer to a complex mathematical question and proceed to show all the working out. The story is great, as I’ve mentioned. Top notch. No complaints. Excellently written characters with just the right level of depth to them respective to their significance in the novel.

Good at the beginning, but there's too much focus on gambling and power-ups. There’s also excessive dialogue around the power-ups, making it chaotic and hard to follow. The story loses focus on the main character, who was very interesting at first. While it’s fine to boost the main character, the way their evolution is handled feels unconvincing. The middle part of the story doesn’t motivate me to keep reading. That said, I do enjoy the writing style.

I've read a decent number of system novels, and one thing I never understand about many of them is the tendency to immediately disregard the rules they establish. I'm 200 chapters in, and I'm debating whether to continue because it feels like the MC doesn't truly earn anything. It just stopped making sense how he's constantly able to overpower every challenge thrown at him. The system only seems to exist to justify why he's "the chosen one." Why even create a system if, within the first 100 chapters, it no longer matters what level anyone is? The MC's "Madness" just solves all his problems without any real effort or personal growth. It's like a perfect deus ex machina that allows him to bypass challenges without taking the time to actually master his craft—it feels lazy. I'm willing to give it a shot if it gets better, but seeing comments that, even 500 chapters in, he's still Level 0 makes me skeptical. By that point, his stats are probably strong enough to beat most people without any real struggle, which undermines the power system entirely. Why should I care about any antagonist when I know the MC will just win immediately or rely on his "Madness" for some random 1000% boost to an obscure skill? Ultimately, there's little to no tension because it never feels like the MC's life is actually at risk.

Honestly, maybe this novel's good. Maybe it isn't. I couldn't be bothered to continue reading. After the author made sure that we realized that it was going to be a supposedly realistic novel by making our character fail to assimilate his first gene, just to have him assimilate, his next gene and all of a sudden, he gets a lucky break and somehow gets a skill along with it. Sure, it was the lowest grade. It was but at the same time it just made me not want to read the rest of the novel. After all, is the author gonna pull another thing? Where the character has a coin flip, where something that isn't. Gonna help him that much. Isn't obtained? And then not even 5 chapters later, because the author didn't let the main character get the thing that wouldn't even help him that much all of a sudden. He has to be rewarded with something amazing. Honestly, I don't even quite know where I'm going with that. I just know that if That happened again in the novel. It would really disappoint me. So I just decided not to keep reading after all. I despised dimensional dissent because of the way the characters were written and I felt the characters might have had promise here, but yeah, the author decided to neuter the main character's first attempted power and that just didn't sit well with me

I like this novel. It has a very interesting plot, power system and cadence to it - good enough for me to pause other novels and binge through this. The fights are quite gripping - even when the mc gets unbelievable breakthroughs in the middle of battle. There are some issues that keep it from getting 5. - The power system is over complicated. - The writing quality dips when the topic is romance or thereabouts. - The short chapters are further nerfed by long stats listings and unnecessary analysis. - Many common concepts are twisted so much that test our brains. e. g. , Intelligence, Wisdom, Willpower, etc. , influence things far beyond how we understand those words. Madness is way beyond how we normally understand it. Yet, it is worth reading

At chapter more thanh 690 . I just realize why the thing that Sylas is cursed by system is good: Earth has no strong monster. SO if Sylas want to improve his gerne, he must to go out of dungeon which is bad for his time (except using time lock). System curse is the only way for him to be stronger without going out of Earth. I bet that in the future he will be trying to improve system curse to get a legendary monster for him to kill from a normal snail
