Kyle went to one of the two workbenches that he knew how to use due to having a class in the school back on earth, about working with metals. He chose the sword from the villages and couple of rare bones, bone marrows and skins from the beasts.
The system immediately asked Kyle if he wanted to combine it using the system, but Kyle rejected it. He placed all of the items onto the workbench and wanted to start adding the bones and the leather to the sword manually, but a UI with a notification appeared.
[ Do you want to activate crafting support system? ]
Kyle was surprised as this again, wasn't in the manual and pressed Yes.
Kyle's vision flashed with blinding white light and when he could see again, there now were some azure circles in his vision. They had text under the circle of what exactly it recommended to do. There were at least a 1000 possibilities that Kyle could see with barely 10 items that he had. Kyle started to choose the most bright azure circles. 'If the system was consistent with its symbols, those should be the most powerful and interesting items.'
Kyle could see what item to take, where to take it, how to hold it and what to do with it.
After Kyle grabbed one of the bones and a claw head hammer that the system suggested, red strikes that started flashing appeared on the bone as if asking Kyle to hit on the spots where they were flashing and in what rhythm to hit.
Kyle carried on listening to the system with every strike feeling natural and even comforting to Kyle.
After around 1 hour of hammering different items separately and even melting some of the bones in a smelter that had plasma of incredible temperature flowing inside, he then combined everything together. Kyle looked at his creation and breathed out.
There was still one last azure light on the sword's handle that indicated for Kyle to grab it. As Kyle graded the handle, the sword sparkled and lit up with azure energy. It was as if this sword was an extension of Kyle's hand, and it was as if it had meridians that were connected to Kyle's dantian directly. It was effortless to move qi into the sword and back.
With qi wrapping the sword, it became increasingly sharp with sword light was ready to be used. This was an incredible experience compared to the weapons that he has used so far. The ease with which he used the wolf fang that the system crafted was similar, but it was not nearly as easy to combine it with his qi. The sword felt like an extension of Kyle's hand.
A notification resounded.
[ Blacksmithing trait activated! ]
[ A normal item was created. ]
Kyle grasped. He felt that this sword was at least in the masterpiece if not legendary quality, compared to all other swords and weapons he saw. 'If this is not a masterpiece, then what about all the other swords that they sell in this world? Are they trash that is beyond trash?' Kyle really wanted to appraise his items to find if he had anything rare and valuable on him.
'I will name this sword an [Excalibur's Small Brother]!' Kyle thought that this name would be amazing, considering he made it on his first try.
After this Kyle wanted to use the workbench to create something else again, but he found that the white circle was now red and had a timer of 72 hours on it, signalling for Kyle to calm the heck down.
'I get it…' Kyle returned to the real world.
He had to move out eventually anyways. After hiding the entrance to the cave with leaves and twigs, Kyle set out to the lighting forest.
He already heard and felt the rumbles of lighting that were coming from the depths of the forest. At first, he thought it was still the cultivators fighting behind him, but in reality, it was the incredible lighting that kept on striking down.
As soon as Kyle got into the forest, it began raining. The rain was pouring just like it would in tropical climates and it in no way looked like it would stop anytime soon. 'Where there is lighting, there gotta be rain as well. It is only natural that I start feeling the environment in which lighting exists; this should help me understand the Lighting Step's inner workings. Kyle also felt two more things.
The air inside the forest had some type of static energy that was present everywhere. It was as if someone had tied a very thin and strong thread, and now it was on the point of snapping due to the stretch's tightness. Kyle knew that it had something to do with the lighting element, but after pondering for a bit he couldn't understand it, and he moved on.
The second thing was that when he now performed the Lighting Step in this forest, a small and barely noticeable lighting spark would appear that would push out his leg outwards each time he stepped. Even though Kyle did not have a lighting affinity just yet, it seemed that this environment was very much suitable to practice. Just as Kyle has predicted
The whole forest was pouring, and the only sound that he could hear was the rain downfall.
—
After travelling in the forest for a couple of hours and not seeing any alive beasts, he started to suspect what was happening. Usually, he would get attacked after a minute inside.
Kyle now saw a big black rock in front of him, it was blocking the path for him, so Kyle wanted to go over it. To Kyle surprise, when he jumped on to it, the rock started moaning and roaring in the low tone. When Kyle looked again at what he was standing on top off from the other side, he lost his ability to talk. He was standing on the ogre that was fully charred black with fire or something similar and with only yellow teeth and bloodshot eyes that were staring at Kyle.
The ogre couldn't move, and the effect of Kyle stepping on top of it was too painful for him to bear, and it seemed to die just from that. It already died because suddenly a UI with a prompt to absorb has appeared, but then after less than a second, the world suddenly froze. The lighting struck with a rumble of thunder in Kyle's ears the ogres head. This fully vaporised its body.
Kyle nearly got hit by it too but was able to jump up into the air at the last second.
Kyle was sure that this would have killed him considering that this ogre was level 3 and was this badly hurt by the lighting.
'So this forest is just as dangerous as I got told it was…' Kyle looked around to see how he can not die in this forest.
Kyle are you going to fight anything this year?
Kyle was now at least 10 kilometres far from the forest entrance, plus he didn't get what he came for into this forest either way.
After seeing what was left of the ogre, he looked around and understood why he didn't see any beasts. It was probably a requirement to have a tolerance to lighting to live in this forest. Beasts like that were rare. Also, all of the black scorched small trees that he saw on his way here were animals that had the same fate as an ogre. Fried by the lighting.
Kyle moved out to the deeper parts of the forest to find something that could survive. He needed to get lighting alignment no matter how he looked at it. He would have to take this gamble.
Kyle adjusted his thoughts and started circulating the qi in his meridians faster. He was certain that one normal lightning strike wouldn't be enough to stop him.
Kyle knew from the physics and maths classes that he had a higher chance of getting struck by the lighting than the tress that didn't have any static energy and any blood inside. That is why Kyle constantly moved to make sure that not enough tension builds up between him and the thunder clouds.
As Kyle ran, the lightning strikes were all around him, sometimes as close as being within the 20 metres radius from Kyle.
Kyle was determined to kill a lighting affined beast and get out from this forest before he is fried to a crisp.
After 10 minutes of running, sliding and rolling to make sure to survive, Kyle spotted a beast. It was a level 2 monkey swinging from one tree to another, also heading somewhere through the thunder.
Kyle knew that this monkey must be from this forest as it's wide back was black in colour with a huge lighting image imbedded into it in yellow colour. Every time the monkey moved, the image would release some current that would cause the monkey's speed to increase.
'This is it. I finally have a target.' Kyle stopped completely, got his new sword [Excalibur's Small Brother] into one hand and wolf fang into another and with qi ready to execute Wave of Conviction move out.
The monkey couldn't possibly hear Kyle's movements as the thunder was constantly resounding all around them. That is why when it saw something moving on the side, it was barely able to dodge the initial strike that Kyle threw out. It jumped very high up into the sky to get momentum for the strike back.
The first strike Kyle did without the Wave of Conviction. He couldn't land it on a moving target so far away anyways. That is why when the monkey jumped up into the air. It was the perfect opportunity to meet it with a wave of conviction.
Even though body strength made sure that all the power stored would be executed, the main issue with using strength as the main weapon was that it would cause one to expose their body with every single attack. The bow or other ranged weapons would protect one and would actually help you strike from a safe distance without any danger.
The beasts that Kyle has met so far never used a weapon and relied on what nature gave them.
The monkey was already coming down with screams and roars. His hands were locked together like a hammer, and it was aiming it hit directly at Kyle's head. If it hit, it could possibly pop Kyle's head like a watermelon.
Kyle was not as stupid as to allow that. With a swift execution of the Lightning Step, he dodged the strike and as he now was at least 4 metres away used Wave of Conviction with the wolf fang. The curved white and yellow light was much thicker than before and now resembled a big line annihilating everything.
The Wave of Conviction landed onto the monkey's body and easily penetrated through it to stop at around 6 metres away.
'Even though it's internals are hurt, it is not dead yet. I need to finish it before it can play a last resort trick on me.' Kyle looked at the monkey and started executing the lighting step to confuse and land another Wave of Conviction.
The monkey as it got hurt, dropped on to one knee and coughed out blood. After seeing Kyle executing the lighting step and seeing its situation, it lifted up its hands and started concentrating on creating something above it.
There, on top of his palms, some yellow plasma that was blindingly bright yellow started appearing. As the monkey kept on channelling the thunder clouds as if angry with what monkey was doing started striking every second in the area where they were fighting. Every time the lighting struck the tree, it would absorb the energy, flicker and grow a little in size, the same happened to all the surrounding.
Kyle was barely able to dodge this sea of lighting that was constantly around him. He could feel that even the remnant energy from the lightning strike could damage him.
Suddenly the lightning struck right at the monkey, and as it roared, it threw that yellow plasma that grew 10 fold in size at the Kyle.
Kyle didn't know what to do, that plasma was sure death for him. The only thing he could do was to try to stop the plasma and try to dodge the remnant energy.
The plasma was the size of the big book, and the Wave of Conviction with 5 points, even used raw from the hand wouldn't clear the plasma fully.
'Is this how I die? Overestimate my abilities to get killed by some stupid monkey?' Kyle didn't want to believe it, 'The only thing I see that I can do is to try executing the 10 point Wave of Conviction. Even though I have never succeeded, I have levelled up so I might be able to use it barely.'
Kyle stopped his movements as dodging was impossible and started executing the qi movement. The qi was already stationed in the 5 basic points that he needed to release the basic level, now what he needed to was to inside those 5 points go smaller and spilt all the energy into two. That would occupy the same 5 points but now would have 10 energies that would target even smaller and more profound areas on his hand.
Kyle tried executing it, but he qi was not listening to him. He had to do it one at a time which was slower than doing at once. The plasma was already nearing him when Kyle started slowly splitting the qi.
'6 points,' The plasma was 10 metres away. '7, 8, 9, 10 points!!!' Kyle roared and put out his hand and bent his finger. An incredible sonic boom resounded, and the air seemed to be split apart with plasma being 2 metres from Kyle and was already sizzling Kyle's skin.
The Wave of Conviction now was completely different. The size of it was at least 4 times as big, and the power was twice as strong.
The area of effect was so large that none of the plasma survived the blast. As monkey must have used up all of its strength when creating the plasma, it stood still and absorbed if Kyle would die from that hit.
The Wave of Conviction now didn't stop at the plasma and just as fast arrived where the monkey was. The Wave was travelling in the cone shape with Kyle hand being the smallest point and the area increasing with range. That is why now, instead of monkey's top half of the body there now was a huge hole that Kyle has created.
Sonic laser boom?
