Chapter 12: Chapter 12 - Collecting the spoils

Kyle went through things that the beasts dropped and collected everything useful. Anything that wasn't useful, Kyle tried crafting with, using the system.

Some of the crafts were really impressive. A new sword out of a leg bone and rib bones with purple crystal embedded. New pair of clothes for Kyle to wear to protect from cold nights. Also a pair of clothes that was extremely durable with leather and bones impeded to protect the vitals.

Other crafts like a whistle out of the bones and a funny-looking hat were not as useful, but still, Kyle stored them inside his storage.

The common pattern that Kyle noticed with these items is that when using the system to craft, they all had a purple crystal of varying sizes embedded into them. Some of the crystals brighter than other and some of them even having a hint of blue in them. Even a needle out, which was made out of the fang of the wolf had a small little crystal in it.

'Maybe it has something to do with the way items are crafted in this world?

The items, after everything was sorted, now occupied 90% of the 4 by 4 area inside his pearls inventory.

'I wish I can somehow increase this space in the future. I would love to store more things here.' After thinking this, Kyle smirked, 'I have always been a loot hoarder in all of my games… I hope that doesn't lead to my demise.'

Now that outside was clean, and the blood was the only thing left. Kyle had to consider his options. 'The blood will alarm all animals of the battle and make them come in caution, but at the same time, knowing how desperate beasts in this forest were for energy, I have to move far away from here if I want to sort my thoughts and new knowledge in peace.'

Kyle went back into the cave, now even more surprised by how beautiful the insides were, the crystals danced around in the sunset light that was slipping from the outside, and were giving off all 7 colours of the rainbow. 'This crystals and this cave are sure a wonder to behold…' Just as Kyle thought that he tried touching one of them. As the hand barely touched the surface, white lines appeared in the whole cave. Those were the same line that he pulled to slow down the time in the middle fo the battle.

'So this wasn't me being gifted; it was all due to this lucky encounter! Thank you, cave!' Kyle couldn't believe his luck. Time was always the most mysterious and secretive thing on earth that no one really understood. He didn't date to take his hand off the crystal as not to disturb this magical feeling. Even though Kyle knew that he had to move out of here as soon as possible, he couldn't afford to miss this opportunity.

Kyle closed his eyes, and the magical blanket of energy covered him and his consciousness. His head was empty like a clean lake which caused him to get insights. 'Time is the flow of my life; the way I got from birth until this cave. Everything leading up to it, all the actions were just made for me to end up here. That is what it means to be in the flow of time. Everything lost in the Past is just the build-up to the present, and everything in the Future is what will come out of the Now. This is what time is.'

With the last words spoken, Kyle opened his eyes. Still embedded in the magical insights of time his eyes had a purple hue and sparks flying through them. Those eyes showed great maturity and deep understanding—the purple lighting was showing the realm of knowledge in the unknown.

[ Congratulations ]

[ Insights into a Time Law solidified ]

The systems sound brought Kyle off this magical feeling, and he realised that all the crystals in the cave now were dim with no laster like before. It was as if something that swallowed all of the light. 'I was intending on bringing all of them with me, but it seems that only taking ones that were broken off outside should be enough. Maybe if this energy can regenerate, I can come back to use it later.' Kyle didn't know yet, what use was this time law and how to use it to slow down time like before, but any encounter should be cherished, especially the one that has helped him survive before.

Kyle's last task was to absorb the Lion. As he did so, the energy flowed into his dantian, but as no whirlpool wasn't present anymore, it started transforming into the pure Qi energy like it was always supposed to. The energy started rotating inside of his dantian and forming a pure energy whirlpool that instead of consuming, gave out energy to Kyle's body. In place of Lion's body, that now disappeared, countless items were lying in the blood. Fangs, marrows from the bones and even strong blood vessels that looked like silver chains were lying there.

But, as soon as Kyle was about to touch the first item, as to start sorting through them, without a prompt from the system, the items started disappearing and combining, just like in crafting. In the end, only 3 neatly stacked and soaking in blood items were left.

The first was a ring with a yellow lion head on top. The second was a belt that had a lion image embedded to the side. The third was an earring that had lions fang in miniature hanging down.

'What is with the jewellery dropping from the beast like that? Why didn't the system let me inspect each item individually? Maybe there was something that I could use to boost my other items or even combine with other beasts materials?' Kyle was very unhappy with the system.

[ The best possible combinations were found, the chance of those items coming together 0.00000000001 ]

Kyle got an answer to his question. 'Well okay, let's store the items separately so that I can sort them out later. I have always played female characters in my MMORPGs, so jewellery was never a problem. But how a guy supposed to wear an earring? Even a thought of having a pierced ear scares me.' Kyle's main problem was the type of items that he got.

As Kyle checked that he got everything that he could, he gave a last longing look to this battlefield. 'This was the place where everything changed. This was the life and death battle that made me who I am right now, and all of my future will be based on this.' Kyle made a deep bow to both the battlefield outside, to the cave and then to the heaven as if telling a Catter and a Game that he is thankful.

After that was done, Kyle ran forward to find a more secure place, as far away from this battlefield as possible.

Kyle has never dared to venture too far from the place where he got summoned into this world to. In reality, ha has started in the most outer region of the forest that was neighbouring a grass plane. At this point, together with the lake with talking lizard, Kyle has explored around 5 kilometres in diameter of the forest. The forest itself looked like it was thousands of metres wide. Instead of going deeper and staying there, for now, Kyle wanted to find a quieter place. Kyle has never explored the grassland, and this was a perfect opportunity for him to do so.

With that thought in mind, Kyle ran out of the forest and onto the grass plane to check what lies ahead.

Chapter 13: Chapter 13 - Humans!

The grass plain was too big for Kyles liking. He has now been running for at least 3 hours, and it was nothing but green ravines and some occasional animals. The craziest thing was that these animals didn't seem to care that Kyle was there.

Unlike the monsters in the forest, they completely ignored him, mostly running away from him. That was a very nice change of pace from the environment that only wanted to kill him at all times.

After running for 2 more hours(now 5 in total), he finally was able to see some mountain that he could probably call his temporary home. After a close examination of the mountain, he found that one of the sides was covered with something that resembled some types of torches that were unlit. Also on of the caves that Kyle saw straight away had wooden supports at the entrance and broken minecraft tracks leading inside.

'Humans!' Kyle was ecstatic to find that there is a possibility that he is not in the foreign land far away.

Humans are a social being in the first place, so being separated from the peers and from social interactions for too long can cause severe damage to the psychological well being of the person.

The technology and some remnants of the mine is a general signal of smarter being than animals existing here. Even though the mine looked abandoned, it might mean that the resources were depleted inside. Kyle decided to check a little bit deeper if there was anything that would hint about where the closest settlement is.

After going a little bit deeper and not being able to see or hear anything, Kyle decided to go back. Something that was hiding deep within didn't make Kyle comfortable. Or maybe Kyle was just a wuss that was still afraid of the dark. As he turned and started walking, he suddenly hit with his leg something metallic and large. Kyle tripped head down and butt up, just like when he first opened that boxes back in his apartment on earth.

What he tripped over was a set of metallic pickaxe which was full of rust and some leather clothing that was as good as rugs. Kyle took this set onto the sun to check what exactly it was. The main problem was that it was already very deep at night, so Kyle decided to sleep and relax after the fight.

"Good night Game to Live, I hope that you will give me more pleasant surprises as I experience this world." As Kyle constantly felt that something was watching him, he knew that any good representation he can show might benefit him greatly. His actions spoke for itself. The flattery wouldn't make things any worse.

With these thoughts, Kyle set up a campfire and lied down in the sleeping bag that he made out of the leather of the beasts he killed.

The next morning, he woke up together with the sunrise.

'All my life I played games during the night and always woke up just in time for lunch. This life is very different, but I think that I like it even more. Having experienced the RPG process of improving my body is more addictive than drugs and waking up early gives me more time during the safe time of the day.'

Kyles clothes were too ripped for him to wear, especially in the chest and biceps areas because of his body growth. He now had to use some of the clothes that system automatically made out of the hides the day before. The problem was that Kyle forgot to ask the system to make underpants or socks… Not that he even could as the system was such a jerk and refusing to communicate with him.

Now that Kyle has fully changed into his new attire, his personality changed completely. Even Kyle's old best friends wouldn't recognise him now. He was like the tribe person of earth's Africa, all in hides clothing. Also, the system refused to make pants, no matter how many times he tried, so he was now dressed in the leather and fur skirt that just reinforced his as the leader of the tribe.

Kyle the Warlord, was ready to learn about the clothes and the new secrets of his body. He also considered exploring the mine, but the feeling that he got when approaching insides told him to think twice about it.

He first picked up the items of clothing. It was clearly a very hand made piece that had stitches and other marks on it. It also had an emblem that was barely visible on the shoulders of the top piece. It was a pickaxe that was striking a gold bar. 'This can be either a company or guild emblem. I have seen similar marks in the games that I played. The main problem is that humans barely want to associate with mining in earth's MMORPGs; if this world is any similar, this is not a human emblem.' After examining the clothes further and also finding a little deeper another set of clothes, Kyle concluded, 'These clothes are too small for humans. They should barely be around 1,5 metre in height. Also, the width of the shoulder span is much more than normal kids, must be some other race.' Kyle was, of course, unhappy with his findings. The only positive thing was that he saw different clothing of different sizes bunched together as though many different races worked here.

'Any settlement would do at the moment. I want to finally sleep in the warm bed and eat something other than dry meat cooked on the bonfire.' Kyle finally had a hit of a smile on his face.

'I have slept here and spent all start of the day at the entrance to this mine. It looks rather safe for me to get my thoughts in order for a day or two.' Kyle decided that he can learn about his body here and now.

The first thing he did was to try interacting with the pearl. The only thing he can get access to was a crafting system that recognised items that he was touching, the storage system and some announcement system. The pearl did not respond to his consciousness probs in any other way. The mentioning of his teachers name [Seng Lin] caused warm energy to be briefly released from the pearl. That energy guided Kyle's consciousness to his brain that now had a strange book stored inside. As soon as Kyle saw the book, he remembered that in his first encounter with the insides of the Pearl he got the key that opened his consciousness power and the book that was some sort of a training manual.

Kyle willed the book to appear in front of him, and he suddenly appeared with the book in the insides of the pearls. The Ancient statue of the teacher was still there, but now it had no radiance coming from it. The pearl was still rotating just like it was before consuming and producing energy.

The book was heavy and was incredibly hard to hold. Now that Kyle had time to practice and cultivate, he wanted to learn what exactly was meant when the system said:

[ Congratulations! ]

[ You have achieved Level 0! ]

[ You have achieved Body Tempering Realm! ]

'What is with there being 2 levels categories? Levels and cultivation levels…' Kyle really didn't know what anything meant, he only knew that it made him stronger. 'If only there were a tutorial...'

Kyle started opening the book but what surprised him is that he only was able to lift the cover to 1cm before it slammed closed. He had the book, but he didn't have enough power to open it to read. Kyle started using all of the strength that he had to do different pulls and hits to try to open the book. The pearl rotating above, starting making a sound as if it was laughing at how stupid and powerless Kyle was.

"What an annoying thing! If I die, you pretty much die with me. If you want to live longer, you better help me." Kyle addressed the pearl in hope to get something in return, in answer, he just got complete silence, and a blank interface appeared that had nothing on it as if the pearl was mocking him even further.

'I will try using everything I got.' Kyle stood up into the horse stance and pulled with everything he got up, his face was red like a tomato, and his hands were white like snow due to all the power being used to lift the cover off. With the last push that Kyle could master he finally was able to open the cover fully.

What greeted him was a series of strange ancient symbols that he couldn't understand, 'So much for trying to open it.' Kyle wanted to get to the next page in the hope of some images that he could understand, but as soon he touched the book all of the symbols started radiating an azure light that started hammering Kyle's head with memories. Actually, instead, it was opening some memories already stored in his head by his teacher. It was not necessarily painful, but the sheer number of thoughts that somehow appeared in Kyle's head, separate from his, made his head hurt.
