Chapter 11: Phasing

283 AC

Sirius was inspecting the shipyard in the Sunny Port in Heliopolis. Thousands of shipbuilders moving busily like bees, in a complex production line working extensively to build the Ironwood Carrack they are tasked to build while salivating on the prospect of having a week-long paid leave after the completion of each ship. They are enamored with the 'leave' idea that their miraculous Crown Prince created. He said, "This is a grace from the crown to recognize your hard work, and a retreat for yourselves to appreciate your work as each ship will make the kingdom's shores more protected". The people simply love their Crown Prince. The King is a great man but he rules on his throne in the Great Memphis, while the prince does visit regularly.

He also lets their city flourish even though they are a naval city he keeps them better fed than most trading cities in the world. They have a steady supply of fresh fish from the fishing boats in the Bay of Wolves and the Gulf of Grief, sheep to slaughter from Lhazar, grains from the farms just outside of the city at the banks of the Worm River. Basically, they led a satisfied and safe life that they could not have anywhere else.

Sirius was leading the entourage while being briefed on the situation at the harbor, by Balaq a famous shipbuilder from the Summer Isles, and a Braavosi counterpart called Denyo. He poached both of them to gather the best of two cultures of shipbuilding, the efficiency of Braavos and the quality of the Summer Isles. Meng Tian followed Sirius like a shadow and he noticed that he was distracted. While the never-ending bickering of the two shipbuilders and the bustle in the shipyard are quite annoying, he knows Sirius is not the man to show such annoyance.

He was surprised to see Sirius sweating heavily despite the cool breeze coming from the bay, he shook him "Sirius should we call for the priests, you seem a little tired, my prince?" Tian flinched at the touch of Sirius's scalding hot skin. "The priests, now!" he shouted nervously.

Sirius woke up later that night on his soft bed and inspected his body. He now stood at 6 ft, 180 cm, with a stalwart muscular body that seems to be sculpted from stone. His body looked like a young bodybuilder from his old world. His skin was smooth and tensile and he had a weird black-shaped tattoo on his right arm. His face really did grow up to look just like the Witcher, but with shining blue eyes. He laughed in madness as adrenaline was pumped into his veins, he started hearing sounds from servants across his small palace on a hill near the shore in Alexandria. He knew that this tattoo, the growth spurt, the heightened senses can only mean one thing.

He is phasing. He finally will have his darn wish fulfilled. Finally, he won't have to worry about a stray arrow, a poisoned cup, or a plague to claim his life, now he won't be terrified of setting half a foot in the treacherous land across the Narrow Sea.

Half a moon later in the Council Room, Sirius sat discussing the plans for his next voyage to Valyria, and he said firmly "End of discussion, Alaric you are staying here." He sighed and patted his cousin's shoulder, "Cousin, Tian needs you and the Kingdom needs you. I will only take cousin Edric because he is my sworn shield and he wields an axe better than anyone I know. The Council needs your intel to make careful decisions and I also need you to oversee the plan of forging the Unsullied steel armor as we can not afford to lose them in the wars to come"

He looked at Sirius with a serious pout that looked more adorable than angry, as he unlike his similarly aged cousin was not graced with an abnormal growth spurt nor battle-hardened looks. He basically looked like any kid who barely passed his ninth nameday.

"Alaric, forget about that, come on show me that mysterious gift you kept talking about." Sirius tried to distract the kid and he succeeded as Alaric suddenly had a smug smile and called his men to get a huge elongated box and they left it at the great table.

Alaric stood up and started talking like a sleazy merchant while removing the cover of the box, "Behold my dear prince, this glaive you carry is a jewel amongst weapons, one that harbors many things within it. This monstrosity has a 5 ft long shaft made of the finest dragonbone from Volantis, It is as strong as steel, yet lighter and more flexible. The shaft ends with a network of an intricate set of First Men runes that reads Black Reaper, proud blade of Sirius Wolfborn.

Its blade is 1 ft long made from a reforged Valyrian steel arakh, owned by Caggo the Corpsekiller of the Windblown company, who your father slew during the siege of Memphis a couple of years ago. The black steel was melt and forged into this blade using the layering technique that you taught the smiths to make the Damascus Steel we use in our armies now." Sirius was bewitched by the beauty of this glaive as he held it fondly caressing its sharp black blade while listening to Alaric's rant about how marvelous his gift is.

"Basically, the whole length of the blade was reduced by a third from its arakh's shape to the glaive's blade, so it was layered thrice and now you hold the densest and strongest edge in the Known World." While Sirius was debating whether he should thank Alaric or punch his annoying smug face, General Meng came in so he rejoiced and asked cheerfully while sealing the glaive box, "Uncle Wu welcome, what brings you here?"

Meng said stiffly "Khal Bharbo died in battle, his son Drogo took his revenge and will be the new Khal. You are his long-time friend so your father decreed you shall be our envoy to congratulate him on his crowning or whatever these horselords call it." Sirius stared blankly then replied "Aye".

In a wide expanse of grassland in the Dothraki Sea, a legion of Silent Cavalries followed prince Sirius Wolfborn into a massive camp of Dothraki tents and navigated through the camp to a wide plaza that had a wide circular area where various minor Khals came and among them sat Khal Drogo the newly invested Khal who although only at three and ten, had a fearsome reputation among the Dothraki. Sirius dismounted and Drogo went to welcome him with a wide smile.

"M'ATHCHOMAROON. With Respect" Sirius greeted in Dothraki.

"Athchomar Chomakea. Respect to those that are respectful." Drogo greeted solemnly, then burst laughing.

"Sirius my friend your visit brings joy to my khalasar" Drogo said gleefully in Dothraki as he hugged Sirius.

"Khal Drogo my blood brother, blessed the khalasar, blessed the Khal. May the Great Stallion Vezhof guide you in your rides" Sirius replied in Dothraki with festive words and the feast continued in celebrative chaos as the Dothraki fought, fucked, and feasted the whole night. When the moon was the brightest feverish feelings suddenly invaded Sirius as he felt his blood boiling and he suddenly only saw red, he suddenly mounted his horse and galloped away, only Drogo and Sirius's guards followed in worry.

Sirius knew what is happening yet he had no control over it, he knew he was gonna turn into a wolf suddenly and he did not have any guarantee that he won't lose control momentarily. He jumped over his horse suddenly and felt his whole bones being crushed and reformed. Drogo, Tian, Edric, Alaric, and some royal guards reached finally to see Sirius writhing painfully while kneeling far from his horse. He suddenly let out a scream which turned into a howl as he suddenly shifted into a huge white wolf.

He howled loudly for a whole minute as a sign of dominance and the valleys as if saluting the new king kept echoing his howl endlessly. He was overcome by a sudden feeling of anger and hunger and immediately ate his own horse in a few minutes till he left a clean skeleton.

Drogo and the others shivered in fear as that white wolf turned his head to look at them. The white fur shining under the moonlight with the piercing blue eyes and the bloody jaw revealing those razor-sharp fangs were enough to terrify the bravest man alive. In a flash, the wolf flashed near them with an agility that doesn't match his massive size, and stopped staring at them as if debating which of them should he prey on first. Fortunately, a few seconds later the wolf suddenly ran the other way and disappeared into the distant valleys in moments.

Sirius kept running like crazy as he barely controlled himself to not devour his friends, he started reciting a mantra he wrote down many times to calm himself at this moment, he closed his eyes and pulled himself together. It felt like the air was trembling around him shaking out from him in small waves. He lifted himself up on his hind legs, catching the moment just right so that he was fully upright as he shimmered down into his human self. He suddenly felt a godly sensation of tranquility and peace. He suddenly found his spirit leaving his body and traveling through the valleys reaching one of the packs of red wolves that inhabit the area, and inside he sees a huge wolf as large as grown direwolves that seems to be their alpha, so he wargs into that wolf and leads the whole pack into the direction of his body.

He tames the wolf and communicates telepathically with it even in his human form. He needs his wolf form to communicate with other shapeshifters in his pack, however, to mentally order a wolf he tamed he only needed his human form. He waited for a few minutes and his tamed wolf came with a pack of about 30 normal-sized red wolves. He was a great wolf with blood-red fur with a scarred eye, so he names him Scar. Sirius went back to the khalasar on the back of Scar leaving the rest of the red wolves behind.

The moment Sirius reached the khalasar mounting such a terrifying wolf, the Dothraki screamed, they always scream, in fear, and the Silent Cavalries, who remembered his miraculous birth ten years ago, knelt down and kept chanting "WOLFBORN WOLFBORN WOLFBORN…"

Drogo, shocked by the shocking sights he saw today exclaimed softly, "By Vezhof, you are one terrifying…. ver." He stammered as he did not know how to describe what he saw so he simply said the word wolf but he knew what he saw was not just a wolf.

Sirius patted his shoulder, "You will understand my dear friend, first we feast," They feasted for the rest of the night, drank Rum which was Drogo's favorite drink, called it Vezhof's blood.

The next day they marched back to Memphis, to meet Prince Aryos who is visiting Memphis to see his daughter the Winter Queen Selena. He is visiting along with other noble merchants in the conclave of the Elephant Party of Volantis who dominated the political climate in Volantis recently through their alliance with the Winter King.
