Chapter 74: Chaos Over the Refuge

The scene of death at dusk had a great impact on many of the survivors, as none of them were soldiers or had military training.

All the refugees had been hiding from the walkers; many were even terrified at the thought of approaching them, but they had to face them, and those were the orders in this place.

"Don't be afraid; we have the advantage as long as we kill these undead one every thirty seconds." Shouted a soldier who seemed to be instructing the new survivors.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The heads of the walkers were pierced by long spears, and each one was not exposed to the bite of these things.

Dominic watched the reactions of these people and hoped that this experiment would be useful. If these people want to go to a safe zone where they will be assigned another job, they must prove they can follow orders.

"To hell with this, I'm out of here." A terrified civilian threw the spear and began to run. None of the soldiers stopped him; it was each one's choice to leave if they wanted to.

But a few minutes later, a sniper shot, and that shot was not directed at the walkers but at the person who had fled the front. The useless have no right to live, much less those who abandon their community.

"We are family; if we have to die, we will do it, fulfilling our role."

"Glory to humanity."

Everyone did not look up and, with a breathless voice, shouted, "Glory to humanity."

Crack!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Alicia also didn't seem affected; she understood perfectly that they had to be strong if they wanted to survive in the future. Taking care of her mother and brother was essential for her, and only for that reason would she do whatever it took to save them from this life.

"Well done; keep going." Dominic used his sword to kill the walkers; this movement of his hands could easily kill more than one walker.

Between him and Alicia, they killed many walkers; the flamethrowers did their job to kill most of them, so Dominic retreated when he saw the fire spreading.

"That's enough; let the others handle it." Dominic signaled the soldiers to take action.

Dominic's uniform was very similar to that of the soldiers, with the only exception that it carried several patches that showed the others his military rank within the community.

When he was on his way back, he was stopped by a soldier, who, in a respectful tone, said, "Sir, we have received a distress signal from a military station about a thousand miles from our position."

"Do you have the exact route?" Dominic wanted to know if the trip was safe given the distance; wasting a flight was not in his plans right now.

"We have calculated the route; should we prepare a team to ensure it's true?"

Alicia approached while cleaning her sword and said, "We should go; being in this place is boring to me."

Dominic thought for a moment and nodded. There were many things he had done before, so this would not be any less dangerous. "Prepare a helicopter; we'll see if it's safe, and then I'll make a decision."

"Understood, sir."

What does it mean to fly?
