The atmosphere stagnated, with Song Yan holding her wine glass, gently swaying it. The red wine shimmered under the crystal light and in full view of everyone, her hand loosened.

A crisp sound startled everyone as heads turned to look over.

The stem glass shattered on the floor, the red liquid splashing everywhere.

"What are you doing? The wine splashed on my pants!" the man complained, but he was quickly pushed aside as Qin Wang approached Song Yan.

Seeing Qin Wang, Song Ci grew restless. She stared at him intently, yet his gaze never once landed on her.

"Are you alright?" Qin Wang asked, examining her closely, not resting until he confirmed that she hadn't been hurt.

A few aunts chimed in with a well-meaning phrase: "Broken shards bring peace, may each year be peaceful."

The old lady, however, was relentless, "Song Yan, what do you mean by this?"
