Chapter 1: Prologue - Crimson Red
It was unusually cold that night. The air had a chilly bite and the black clouds were racing with the wind. There were moments when this allowed the twinkling stars to be visible. As the moonshine sporadically shone through, it illuminated the frost-encrusted forest leaves.
Normally, the secluded area would be silent but Hyeon's stumbling to the cave disturbed it. It was a special place where he could see him. The wolf.
*It's all my fault. I should've known,* he thought.
His pace slowed down as he arrived at the cave's entrance. He stared into its now empty darkness. The portal was gone. Tears felt brittle against his cheeks.
Hyeon remembered he was holding a curved knife.
*Is this truly the only way to bring you back?*
Hyeon slowly held it up to his neck. Everything turned crimson red.
