Chapter 72: Fish

"Careful!" Cleo shouted, running to River's body and picking it up as gently as she could, even as his neck flopped to the side like a baby's. 

Lucian didn't answer as he walked away from the road and towards the tree growing out of the ground all of a sudden. 

Placing Ace on the conveniently grown branches that are shaped like a chair, he began inspecting his little brother intently, frowning even more every time he noticed another injury. 

Cleo brought River and placed him as carefully as she could beside Ace, though his head flopped to the side, almost like a broken stick. 

"Don't worry about him, he will be fine," Cleo said nonchalantly.

Thought, she meant that as a comfort, the reaction she got from Lucian was anything but what she expected him to react like. 

He stood up, and grabbed her by her shirt collar, slamming her against the tree, "You knew ... and you did nothing to help."
