Chapter 44: Chapter 44 Conspiring

At four o'clock in the afternoon, Zhou Mingchen finally rested up and went downstairs again.

"Mrs. Zhang, is there any red bean soup?"

"Yes, there is."

Mrs. Zhang hurriedly slipped into the kitchen, took the soup that had been cooked in the morning out of the fridge, reheated it on a low flame, and in a few minutes, she brought it to the dining table, placing it in front of Zhou Mingchen while she stood to the side with hands hanging down.

Zhou Mingchen took a couple of sips of the soup and lifted his head, "You may go back to your chores."

Mrs. Zhang hesitated and didn't move, as she had not yet uttered the excuse she had prepared, thinking it would be more reassuring to explain early that Xia Lu was not at home.

"What's wrong, is there something?"

"No, sir, I am just going out to do some grocery shopping, I'm planning to stew a black-bone chicken for tonight."

"Black-bone chicken?"
