Chapter 7: Chapter 7: New Formation (Edited)

After all those greetings, Benji wanted to talk about his promotion, but seeing that Alex didn't bring up the subject, he was also wise enough not to bring it up.

At the end of the conversation, Alex just added, "Don't relax your attitude and work hard. Seize the opportunity you will have wisely. Don't let me down." After that, he returned to his office.

After returning to his office, the first thing Alex did was ask the system, "Can you show me the overall rating of all the players on the team?"

[Of course, here is the overall rating of the team.]

-------------

To be honest, the attributes of Sunderland players were much lower than he thought. He was curious and asked, "I think their overall rating should be more than that. Can you give me references from different players?"

[Of course, here are some references.]

65-70 [C to C+ rank]: Second and third-division professionals (Players who have been professionally trained since childhood and are mostly second or third-division players).

70-75 [B to B+ rank]: First division professional (Someone who, at first sight, is different from an amateur and is sometimes a starter, able to play in the five major leagues).

75-80 [A to A+ rank]: Little Star (They are stars of mid-level teams in the top 5 leagues and stars of some weak and middle-range teams). Examples: Ihenacho, Jonjo Shelvey.

80-85 [S to S+ rank]: Star (They are starters of top-level teams in the top 5 leagues, able to play in every team unless there's strong rivalry, of course). Examples: Gérard Moreno, Andrew Robertson.

85-90 [SS to SS+ rank]: Big Star (They are the top stars of the team, the ones who can change the course of a game by themselves). Examples: Phil Foden, Rodrygo, etc.

90-95 [SSS to SSS+ rank]: Legend (They are players whom, even if they retired immediately, the club and their country will always remember). Examples: De Bruyne, Kroos, Zidane...

95-99 [EX-Rank]:Myth (they are players whose exploits can be considered mythic). Examples: Lionel Messi's 92 goals, Cristiano Ronaldo's scoring 50 goals for 5 consecutive seasons in the top five leagues, Ferenc Puskás's 1571 goals in 1271 matches...

------------

"Well, looking at it this way, they don't seem to be that weak anymore since most players are at the championship level; plus, with my help, I can help the team upgrade this season."

[Although it's not a bad thing to have some confidence, let me remind you that the last thing a professional football player can do is underestimate his opponent. Although attributes are important,]

[Most of the time, the player's attitude and mentality determine what he can do. For example, a motivated Neymar is different from a raver Neymar. For example, when a certain player is angry, he can do some exploits that are simply impossible for him in normal times.]

Alex also calmed down; he was just excited and in a rush of adrenaline. He understood what the system meant. If the overall rating of the team means champion, there would not be the Danish fairy tale or the Leicester Miracle; the Galactico Real Madrid would have won any cup they participated in.

Now it's time for him to decide the players who will play. The normal formation that Jack Ross uses is a 4-2-3-1, but, when the game begins, Jack will most of the time have to play as a center midfielder, although he didn't like it, which also resulted in him being a central midfielder but with better-finishing attributes than some strikers, changing the formation to 4-4-2.

The original formation was like this:

### 4-2-3-1

#### Goalkeeper:

- Jon McLaughlin

#### Defenders:

- Luke O'Nien (Right-back)

- Jordan Willis (Centre-back)

- Conor McLaughlin (Centre-back)

- Denver Hume (Left-back)

#### Defensive Midfielders:

- Max Power

- Grant Leadbitter

#### Attacking Midfielders:

- Lynden Gooch (Right Midfield)

- Alex Spencer (Central Attacking Midfield)

- Aiden McGeady (Left Midfield)

#### Striker:

- Charlie Wyke

---

Alex's favorite position is the attacking midfielder because he likes organizing the offense for a team like Sunderland. They couldn't afford those scorer strikers, so he has to take this responsibility.

His ideal formation is the 4-3-1-2, but with the team's current players, the best formation for the team from his analysis is the 4-1-3-2. Although Ben White plays as a right-back and central defender, in this formation, he would play as a defensive midfielder.

In this formation, Alex will still be playing as the central attacking midfielder, but thanks to him now being a top offensive kaleidoscope, he can create so many opportunities for the two strikers or the two left and right midfielders to attack. Although this formation can't assure the team's defense, it can assure the team an explosive offense.

After deciding, his new formation will be like this:

### 4-1-3-2

#### Goalkeeper:

- Jon McLaughlin

#### Defenders:

- Luke O'Nien (Right-back)

- Jordan Willis (Centre-back)

- Conor McLaughlin (Centre-back)

- Denver Hume (Left-back)

#### Defensive Midfielder:

- Ben White

#### Attacking Midfielders:

- Lynden Gooch (Right Midfield)

- Alex Spencer (Central Attacking Midfield) (overall rating 95, world-class midfielder)

- Aiden McGeady (Left Midfield)

#### Strikers:

- Charlie Wyke

- Will Grigg

---

He will bench the two defensive midfielders, Max Power (67) and Grant Leadbitter (68), and will play Ben White (70) as the only defensive midfielder, while Will Grigg (68) will advance to the striker position.

The team will then need to adapt from playing defensively with two defensive midfielders to an offensive team.

Now that he has planned everything, it's time to simulate the game.

"System, I want to simulate the game against the next opponent, Wycombe Wanderers."

[Already? Well, you need to select the players who will play.]

"Even for Wycombe Wanderers?"

[Yes, even if you want to play against a team composed of C.Ronaldo and Messi, you just need to select them for opponents' players, and so for the Wycombe Wanderers players.]

Alex didn't know what kind of players Wycombe Wanderers have been using since the start of the season. It was only after looking at the scout report that he selected them. They are:

### Formation: 4-3-3

#### Goalkeeper:

- Ryan Allsop (65)

#### Defenders:

- Right-back: Jack Grimmer (65)

- Centre-back: Anthony Stewart (66)

- Centre-back: Darius Charles (64)

- Left-back: Joe Jacobson (67)

#### Midfielders:

- Central Midfielder: Dominic Gape (66)

- Central Midfielder: Curtis Thompson (65)

- Central Midfielder: Matt Bloomfield (65)

#### Forwards:

- Right Winger: David Wheeler (66)

- Striker: Adebayo Akinfenwa (65)

- Left Winger: Fred Onyedinma (66)
