"Miss Simons, is there something up? It's quite a surprise you called me," he said.

"Spencer, where are you? Why didn't I see you at work today?" Caroline prompted.

"Oh, Miss Simons, you're back to Neon?" he asked.

"Yes, I am. I see that you're not here, so I decided to call you. Did you have some personal issues and took the day off?" Caroline asked.

Spencer suddenly fell silent.

Caroline took a deep breath as she waited for his answer.

Two seconds later, Spencer said, "Miss Simons, I'm really sorry, but I resigned."
