Chapter 7: History Repeats Itself

In the living room, both Mrs.Camille and Mr.Gordon had a look of dread on their faces.

"It's happening again, Gord," Mrs.Camille said in a low voice. Her voice held a hint of panic as she paced in the living room.

"You're right." Mr.Gordon said as the worried look that was on his face had not disappeared.

"But it was dormant for these whole years, why now?" Mrs.Camille questioned her husband who seemed to be thinking about something.

"I'm sure the attack by the robbers which made her fear for her life triggered the ability again."Mr.Gordon reasoned.

Mrs.Camille who stopped pacing recalled the incident that had happened a few years ago.

***Few years ago***

" Lea, where are you?"Mrs.Camille called out to little Lea in a slow sweet voice. She tiptoed into the bedroom in search of little Lea.

Earlier that morning, little Lea had requested her mom to play hide and seek with her. Upon several pleas from the little girl, Mrs. Camille finally yielded to her pleas and agreed to play after she had nursed baby Nicole to sleep, and here they were, with Mrs.Camille seeking little Lea.

Little Lea giggled silently inside the cupboard where she was hiding. She heard her mom call her name and she tried not to make any noise so that her mom would not find her.

Mrs.Camille continued calling out to little Lea but it was as if she was not in the room, she gave up and left the room.

When little Lea did not hear her name again, she figured that her mom was gone and she tried getting out.

She pushed the doors of the cupboard but they didn't open. she tried three more times but she got the same results.

She began to panic and she banged the doors with her little hands while screaming her mother's name.

Little Lea's breathing became shallow and she started suffocating as the air in the cupboard was slowly diminishing.

Mrs.Camille who heard noises in the room she had just come from, rushed back and she traced the noise to the cupboard, but before she could open the cupboard, the doors opened with great force.

She staggered back and her eyes slowly widened at the sight before her.

Little Lea was there in the cupboard, her small right hand in the air with her eyes widened like saucers. She was covered in beads of sweat and her little body shook as she herself was shocked at what she had done.

In the next moment, her body gave out and she swayed. Her back hit the inside of the cupboard and she passed out.

Mrs.Camille on seeing little Lea in that state ran toward the cupboard and carried little Lea from inside it. She laid her on the bed and pushed the strands of her hair to the sides of her head, revealing her smooth forehead that was covered in sweat.

Mrs.Camille was so overwhelmed that, for a moment, she didn't know what to do.

She called out little Lea's name worriedly while she slightly shook her small shoulders in an attempt to wake her up. Her temperature was rising, and Mrs.Camille's worry skyrocketed.

She ran out of the room and went to call her husband who was resting in their bedroom.

"Gordon?... Gordon..." she screamed her husband's name while she ran into their bedroom.

Mr.Gordon who had heard his wife screaming his name woke up from his slumber and walked hastily out of the room. He met his wife at the entrance, where Mrs.Camille almost run into him.

"What's wrong Camie?" Mr.Gordon asked his wife, sleep still lingering in his eyes.

"Gord, Lea..." Mrs.Camille said panicking where she pointed to the room she had come from.

"Lea? What happened to her?" Mr.Gordon asked and grimaced as if expecting something unpleasant.

He did not wait for his wife to speak the words and dashed out of the room, heading to the room where Lea laid.

When he got to the room, he walked quickly to the bed and sat on it.

At the same time, Mrs.Camille entered the room. She went to stand by her husband who looked alarmed and confused at the same time, as to what had happened to his daughter.

"What happened to her Camie?" he asked his wife.

"I don't know what happened, Gord. We were playing hide and seek but it seemed she had locked herself in the cupboard. When I heard her scream and went to open the cupboard, she burst the doors open with her bare hands and fainted."

Mr.Gordon's face twisted into a small frown and he looked intently at his wife, who did not look like she was joking in the least.

"What do you mean, Camie?"

"She opened the cupboard by herself in a strange way...See."Mrs.Camille said and pointed to the cupboard.

Mr.Gordon stood up from the bed and went to examine the doors of the cupboard.

Few of the hinges holding the doors in place had broken off and the doors hung sideways.

The frown on Mr.Gordon's face deepened and he looked back at his wife who was standing behind him.

They averted their eyes to look at the little girl who laid on the bed. She looked so innocent and harmless.

" How can this happen?"Mr.Gordon asked his wife in a shocked, but low voice.

Mrs.Camille shook her head, indicating that she had no idea.

They walked toward the bed and sat by little Lea, whose breathing was normal causing both parents to feel less worried.

Both of them decided to ask little Lea about it when she woke up.
