Chapter 36: A Town Gripped in Fear

Zero and Gwyn had stopped by a stand that sold the juiciest meat kebabs that Zero had ever had. His family didn't take him out to restaurants much and his mother wasn't much of a cook, so the bar was pretty low to start with.

Gwyn sat beside him devouring it like this was the first meal she had in days. She let out a surprisingly loud belch which drew the attention of a few others who were seated around them. Zero found it disgusting, but she had paid for the meal with the few gold coins she had left since he had been robbed of all his.

"So, what's the deal with this whole team up thing of yours anyways?" She said as she leaned back in her chair.

Zero swallowed what was in his mouth. "What do you mean?"

"Like...why? Sure, it gives you an advantage in the beginning, but then you have to stick your neck out for someone else who you'll have to knife in the end anyways."
