Chapter 29: The Capital City
"Kairos, we are heading to the capital city today."
Eh?
Kairos looked at his face and saw he was all prepared to leave the town. "I've packed your bags, and already bought an apartment there to stay. Let's go. Our train leaves at 11 am."
"Well, you have to inform us beforehand. We need at least 20 minutes to get ready.", Kairos replied and turned off the tv. "Irosa, you go get changed first."
We still have months before the exam. So, why is he rushing to the capital city now? Does he have other intentions?
"Stevan, why are we leaving this early?"
"You need to train and learn everything about this world. And the capital city is under 24-hour surveillance. We can't just pop up before the exam. This will make us more suspicious."

He looked like he was 17 or 18. Is he heading to the capital city too? Tsk! Who cares?
He took out an old book he bought two days ago online and started to read it. It was a book about an ancient warrior's daily life. The book wasn't famous online because it cost 200 gold money. but the reviews were great. So he spent some money for his curiosity.
I'm not good with codes, but I saw 3 hidden codes on the very first page. Interesting… Is this book trying to say something?
He flipped the page and saw another hidden code on the story.
This book is more than 300 years old in this world, yet they sold this online. And there weren't many copies in stock.
"Kairos, our train is here."
He moved his attention from the book and saw a huge train stopped at the platform. It was floating 2 feet above the ground and transparent stairs were forming at the entrance.
Wow…
But, he didn't wait for too long, because it was almost 11 am. So, he went inside the train and saw it was huge. The train has expansion magic installed inside.
"Where's our seat?" Kairos asked while moving forward in the hallway. "It's B10. We booked a first-class ticket, so it will be a huge room." Stevan replied while he searched for his seat.
"Oh, it's this room. Come inside."
Kairos went inside the room to take a seat and saw the neon green jacket boy come inside too. He was also a passenger in this room.
He's the boy from the platform. And he's been stuck on his phone since then.
"Kairos, look at my score! I beat all the high scorers in this game!!", Irosa showed her game score to Kairos but he was busy reading his book. So he replied that she did well.
There are a lot of codes, but the story is also good. I like the warrior where he killed his companion before he was going to get backstabbed. What a story!
"Are you a grandpa? The boy with the sword asked Kairos because reading a book was too old-fashioned. "It's fun.", he replied.
"Even my grandpa read books on Epad. Play some games man. You can earn a few kijos from it."
Kairos looked at the boy's face and saw he was busy with his games. Irosa was doing the same as well. So, he said, "Oi, read some books damn it. Give me that phone!"
"No!! I'm almost finished killing the boss of this dungeon. Do you know how many items I've collected?"
"See? She's also telling the truth. You can earn money from this." The jacket boy replied.
What's wrong with this generation? I mean, when I used to read in school, we had PS7 with the VR MMORPG system. But I never felt that much of an attraction to it. In my opinion, books are the best.
"Whatever, just don't waste too much time on it. You will hurt your eyes."
I will just go back to my book because I'm getting the clues to crack the code.
It was a 5-hour long journey. But to Kairos, it felt like a minute. He was so busy with his book that he lost track of his time. He misses the outside view through the train on his way too. But he didn't regret it. Instead, he was happy that he was able to crack the code from the book.
It's a magic spell, an ancient magic spell that helps to slow the time by 30 seconds for me. I bet the writer of this book wanted to pass down his trump cards by this book, so he wrote it down with a story and made only 20 copies. From the reviews perspective, I don't think they were able to crack it or they just ignored it. Or else, this spell would be the most popular one among the high-ranking magicians.
"Are you done reading old man?", the jacket boy asked.
"Yes. Thank you for asking."
The train stopped at the station at 4:10 and the four of them got off.
The capital city was way more advanced than the previous one. It was more lively and brighter than the previous one. This capital city was called Krypton of Astalav Kingdom.
Suddenly, the neon jacket boy called Kairos and said, "What's your name? You're so different from everyone."
"Kairos Fransis. You?"
"I'm Reven Oflinton. Are you a candidate for the upcoming adventurer academy?"
"Yes. Are you a candidate too?"
"Yes, which class did you choose?"
"Warrior."
"I see."
Why is he asking me questions all of a sudden? I thought people in this world aren't that social.
He was confused because it was his first time having a conversation with an unknown person who asked the most questions.
"Kairos, let's take a bus from here. The academy isn't far away from our home."
So, he bought a house beside the academy. He's really taking our job seriously where he doesn't have to.
Anyways, I don't care if he's taking advantage of me. Because mutual trust is important between us and nothing is free here. I need to rely on him as much as I can until I can get used to this world fully.
Because my life depends on it.
