Chapter 77: Chapter 77: The Assault
Cole led the fighters through the streets, moving swiftly and quietly as they made their way to the first safehouse on their list. It was a run-down building in a forgotten part of the city, the kind of place where people went to disappear. Cole knew the underground operated out of places like this—hidden in plain sight, protected by their reputation.
When they reached the building, Cole signaled for the group to spread out. They moved into position, ready to storm the safehouse and find any information they could about Zack's whereabouts.
With a nod from Cole, Marco kicked down the door, and the fighters flooded inside. The underground operatives inside the building barely had time to react before they were overwhelmed. Cole moved quickly, searching every room for any sign of Zack.
In the back room, Cole found a man sitting at a desk, his face pale with fear as he saw the group of fighters closing in on him. He was one of the underground's lieutenants, a man who handled their operations in this part of the city.
Cole grabbed him by the collar, pulling him to his feet. "Where's Zack?"
The man stammered, his eyes wide with terror. "I don't know what you're talking about—"
"Don't lie to me," Cole growled, his grip tightening. "Where are they holding him?"
"I swear, I don't know!" the man said, his voice shaking. "I don't know anything about it!"
Cole's eyes narrowed, his patience running thin. "Tell me where they're keeping him, or I'll make sure you regret it."
The man's resolve crumbled, and he quickly spilled everything he knew. "They took him to one of the warehouses by the docks! That's all I know, I swear!"
Cole released him, stepping back as the man slumped against the wall, his body trembling. He had the information he needed.
"Let's go," Cole said, turning to the group. "We're getting Zack back."
