JOHN'S POV

"Three years of my life?" Emily asked, looking taken aback.

"Yes… you'd have to serve me, and make it up to me, while I'll go around trying to sculpt it back into what it was, and fortify it once more with the mystical powers it possessed. You think it's that easy? You know all our forefathers went through just to fix this whenever it broke? I'd have to be gone for some time when this is sculpted!" I shouted.

"But John, it was an accident." She tried to say, but I pushed the book into her arms. She accepted it hastily, and stared at the words written in ancient ink. She shook her head slowly, as if she still didn't believe it.

"As it is written there, you will be cursed. The Alpha who has watched our pack for generations, and generations will come after you. Believe it's a stupid myth, and watch it happen." I said, and could read the fear on her face as clear as day.

"But…. Wait a sec, John. I…" She began to say, but I snatched the book, and began to flip again.

"There's no way you're going scot-free, while I'll have a lot to deal with because of your stupid mistake." I said, and pushed the book towards her once more.

She was going to pay whatever price the heir named, and was also going to pay whatever amount to sculpt the stone Alpha if she couldn't serve the heir for three years.

Her eyes went wide, and I took the book away from her once more.

"The price that I'm asking you to pay is a billion dollars. What do you say? Added to whatever it costs to sculpt this mysterious Alpha Wolf?" I asked, and she couldn't say a word. Rather she stared at me in shock.

A billion dollars was like asking to kill her.

She was financially stable, but not rich. Even if she was, she could never afford a billion dollars in her present state.

She had silently accepted to be my maid. Her gaze which had been fiery minutes ago had become cool, and her lashes fell low over her eyes.

She looked like her mind was rushing with thoughts, and her fingers were tangling endlessly with themselves, screaming out the insane fear she was trying so hard to hide.

Even if I was mad at all the things I'd have to do before it got sculpted, mad that it had to shatter while I was heir, I loved the look on her face. She looked completely helpless.

No doubt about it, she was definitely regretting shouting at me, and raining all those insults upon me.

How dare she? All because I did what every man did, she felt she had the right to stand up to me? I was an Alpha, and she was just an ordinary Omega.

The most annoying thing of all she had said was her suggesting she found another man to sleep with in front of me. The sound of it irritated my ears, and made me want to shove her backwards.

Did she think she owned herself? Ever since we began to go out, I had claimed her as mine, and no one else was taking her except me.

"So what do you say?" I asked, impatiently.

"I… I don't have that amount of money." She said, and I could see the effort it had taken her to spit out those words.

"Lucas, I'm really sorry you have to witness this. It's messed up. Please come. Let's sit." I said, and when Emily stayed rooted to the spot, I turned around. "You don't want to annoy me further than you have tonight. Breaking that alone is enough for me to lose every bit of madness within me. Come and sit now, while I'm being nice." I said, and she moved to sit on a sofa opposite Lucas.

That was rather fast. Emily was outspoken, and always said whatever she needed to in an argument.

It was weird to see her being so docile, and easy.

I sat next to Lucas, and got back on my feet.

"What would you like to drink, Lucas?" I asked.

"No, no… how can I take anything in this situation? Let's solve this, first." He said, and I took my seat once more.

"There's nothing much to decide. For three years, Emily, you'll have to be my maid." I said, looking at the floor, and her gaze shot up to me.

I knew I had gone too far, but I didn't want to change my words, or go back on them just like that. It was also weird how I didn't want to see the betrayed look on her face at that moment.

"John… that's… that's harsh." Lucas said.

"Then what else do I do? What do I use three years of her life for? It's not like I can force her to be engaged with me again. The only thing in this…"

"She used to be your fiancée. You should go easy on her." He said, and even though we were just a few years apart, he sounded smarter.

Maybe he ought to be smarter? After all, he was older.

Lucas had been the youngest child of the family, and when he was five, and tremendously younger than his siblings, I had been born to the firstborn son in his family.

Due to that, I was closer to him than he was to his real brothers. We had even decided to share a building in the family house, and had made the arrangements.

"Easy?" I asked.

"You should take some time to think, before deciding her fate for three years. You're probably mad at her for fighting with you, but you shouldn't be blinded by your anger." He said, and that was all I needed.

Someone to coax me gently, and give me the pleasing I wanted.

"You can leave, Emily, and return tomorrow. I'll get back to you after thinking of a position to give you." I said, and she got up from her seat. She didn't even thank me. Rather, she looked shaken.

She walked slowly, across the living room, and made her way towards the door. Was she that shaken? Had I scared her that much? Did three years really matter? For me it was too small. I preferred seven years.

"I came a long way. I'll have my shower now." Lucas said, and got to his feet.

"I'll prepare something for us." I said, making for the kitchen, while he made for his room.

I couldn't deny my joy at having clipped Emily's wings. She deserved that and more for daring to stand up to me.

She had even called me a dog. What an insult.

I was going to repay her with the humiliation she had given me.
