Mason's POV

The atmosphere in the room was electric. Pack members hanging about, their conversations a low hum as they were all probably scared of me overhearing their discussions. All of them knew the real reason for tonight's event. I had staged it perfectly—just enough pretense to make it look like a routine pack gathering, but I was sure everyone understood the underlying message that I was in charge.

I stood near the center of the hall, casually swirling a glass of whiskey in my hand. Bethany was standing a few feet away, stiff and quiet, clearly feeling out of place among the confident wolves surrounding her. That was the point. She needed to know, just like everyone else, where she stood.
