Chapter 288: Prisoner of the past

The Mantis King's squeal encompassed the entire world, resonating with the other mantises. They rose from their homes in droves from the west, north, and south, heading toward the center where their king stood. A massive crowd of mantises gathered above the crater created by Ana in her earlier rampage. 

The Mantis King gave another squeal, and the mantis all dispersed into the city, searching high and low for something. 

Xasha saw everything unfold, and shivers ran down his spine. To think that these things could be so smart? 

Xasha took Ana, covered his tracks, hid his aura, and escaped. However, he had limited time and an injured companion, so he couldn't get far. There was also no hope of him outrunning a Heaven Sage on his best day. Furthermore, thanks to Ana, all the hiding places nearby were destroyed. All but one: The Black Palace.
