Chapter 20: Death

Back at home " Lilith help Adrian in every way as you can, that child is going through a lot "

she was surprised to hear her dad say that

" dad what happened to his dad, how is Adrian's dad ? is he going to be okay " asked Lilith very worried for Adrian " his father is getting worse the doctors say that there is no much time left and prepare for the worse thing to happen, his mother is very devastated to hear the news I am very worried about that child " said Antony with a sad look.

" what is he going to do, he will be very heart broken if he heard it, I wish a miracle will happen " thought Lilith.

She prayed day and night for the recovery of his father and Adrian never came to school, exams were going to held in two days from now.

Adrian have no siblings but he always wanted one, there are only three members in his family his father, mother and him. His father worked a government job and the only one who earns for the family and his mother is a house wife, their family is quite rich so they live in a huge flat .

On the day of the exam, " is he going to come if he didn't take the exam then he is going to fall behind his grade and fail " thought Lilith depressed, these past few days she can't sleep or eat properly she is always constantly thinking about Adrian if he was eating properly, is he crying, is he hurting, is he lonely, she always had a depressed expression and can't focus on anything.

Her dad came in with a sad face " Lilith I have bad news, your friend's dad passed away last night at the ICU " she was shocked her face darkened " dad can I go with you now " " no you have exams today and you will be late, you can come after you finished today's exam "

" dad please I beg you I need to go " said Lilith about to cry " she said she will be there for him, he will be waiting for her to come if she didn't go who would be there for him, he will be very dissapointed with me " thought Lilith.

At this point she didn't care about her exams anymore all she thought was how to meet Adrian " You will go to school and that's final " said Antony. She begged and cried but her father never bulge at the end she still had to go to school for her exam.

At class, she can't really focus and was anxiously waiting for the bell to ring but the 3 hours exam began to become eternal it was like time stood still and never pass. She was beginning to become impatient, her leg was shaking and her body was trembling she bit her lip. After 3 hours passed the bell rang she ran out from the class and straight to her house. She didn't know where the memorial service was held, she searched for her dad but she didn't find him she suddenly fall down on the ground like all her hope was vanished instantly. " Sis what happened... dad said that the memorial service was going to be held at the hall on third street " said Mike worriedly looking at his sister.

Her eyes lit up all her vitality returned after she heard it, she ran out without saying anything to Mike. She ran as fast as she can like her life depended on it , she fell down and bruised her knees blood dripped down she pulled out her handkerchief and rapped it around the bruise she was in pain, tears forming in the corner of her eye but she stood up and ran. She reached the location at last there were many people wearing black around and the atmosphere was full of depression she didn't like the feeling. She looked around and found that there were no children around her age and only adults.

She pushed thought the crowds and went to the hall. Some people were sobbing while others have a look of sympathy. She searched for the figure of Adrian and found him, he was greeting the guest that came for the memorial service. He didn't have an expression on his face there were only coldness and distance, his eyes were little wet and there were dark circles " he must have cried the whole night " thought Lilith .

She walked up to him but she didn't know what to say even if she was worried about him this whole time. He ignored her like she was nobody and kept greeting the guest

" ...Adrian can I talk to you for a second " said Lilith with a low voice, she lost her voice from all the running and crying but he just ignored her like he didn't heard her. Finally she pulled his hands to notice her " don't touch me " said Adrian angrily slapping her hands away.

" What happened what did I do wrong, I don't like what you are now, eyes cold as ice and his expression is scaring me, he is being mean " thought Lilith. It's was the first time Adrian was not nice to her and his expression was like he resented and hated her. Tears welled up she began to cry " do I even know you? " said Adrian appearing cold and indifferent that sentence made her heart break to pieces " who are you? you are not Adrian give Adrian back you are cruel " Lilith cried out " so you think I am cruel now what about you, where were you when I needed you the most, you even said you will be there for me and I trusted you ... was it all a lie that you care about me... am I the only one that was always caring for you... it is you that made me cruel" he turned away, his back looked cold he had been changed in an instant to a whole another person.
