Meanwhile in a small apartment, Jack woke up and opened his eyes but shut them back almost immediately because of the blinding light in the room that obstructed his vision. He waited for some seconds before opening them again one after the other.
He then realized the unfamiliar environment he was in. He tried sitting down but then he fell back on the chair feeling very dizzy and a strong headache swooped in. It was aching so much that he could have sworn there was a band doing a live performance in his head. But then again that was the reward he got for consuming too much alcohol until he was knocked out by it
He had done that but it was a temporary solution to his problems and now that he was sober it had just caused more problems because apart from trying to heal his aching heart, he now has to fight this pending headache and dizziness
His heart kept hurting even though it was empty now. He tried sitting up slowly with the support of his hands rubbing his stiff neck. He had been knocked off the couch and had positioned his neck wrongly and now it hurt badly.
After finally managing to sit down, he looked around the small apartment and kept trying to remember how he got there after knocking himself out. He felt his chest ache badly as he remembered Rachel. They had dated since high school and all of a sudden she cut of their engagement.
He almost jumped out of his skin when he heard a door open behind him jolting him way out of his thoughts
"Sorry to scare you, I'm Jennifer I brought you here from the bar" a beautiful bright-eyed brunnete with tousled long curly hair greeted as she handed him a hangover doing before going to sit on the couch across where she was seated
"A lady called while you were asleep, she asked for you and I sent her the address" Jennifer said politely yet cautiously. She noticed that this guy might not be a normal person. The aura he had was like that of a feared yet successful business man
"You did what?!!!" Jack shouted. He thought the person that had called was Rachel and right now he least needed her presence. He then realized that he shouted at the innocent girl and decided to apologise
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to shout but do you know the name of the person who called?" He asked instead
"Yes, she said she was your sister, Oliannah" she replied. He didn't entirely seem bad and wicked
"Oliannah called? Why?" After their last argument, he least expected her to be the one to call
"Isn't she your sister? Why wouldn't she call?" She asked confused
"It's a long story. Anyways, why did you bring me here? You could have just left me at the bar" Jack said. He had been wondering all this while why she decided to take him in
"Yes I know. But you reminded me of my brother. He acted the same way when his girlfriend whom he had dated since high school broke up with him" she explained
"How do you know my girlfriend broke up with me?" Jack asked suspiciously
"You kept mentioning her name and asking why she left you u till you slept of" Jennifer said with a smile "Anyways, I'm quite sorry to say this but if your sister is still pissed at you, she'll be more pissed if she meets reeking of alcohol like you do now" she stated
"Are you calling me smelling? I've heard people use words like handsome, stunning and so on to describe me but aside from my sister, you're the first to say I'm reeking which in other words, smelling" Jack said with an amused smile and Jennifer finally relaxed a bit
"I can't believe people hide that fact from you" she said and Jack let out a light laugh. The first since his heartbreak
They were disturbed by the door bell and Jennifer went to get it while jack stayed on the couch
At the door, Jennifer welcomed Lianne in to meet jack
"Ewww, could you go shower or something? You stink really badly" Lianne stated as soon as she came close to where jack was seated
"See what I said?" Jack said looking at Jennifer who replied with a light giggle.
